Wrast and Talia quietly slip away from the Gleaming Endeavor as the group has entered their uncomfortable rest. Talia leaps from the ship and slowly soars to the ground with the wings given to her by Wrast, she notes that the wings have adapted slightly to their new owner and now resemble a black set of feathered wings. Wrast dives off the ship as well, plummeting towards the earth until at the last moment he drifts down the final 6 feet like a feather. Both rogues are now on the ground staring at the giant stronghold in the distance. Talia turns to Wrast, ‘Are you sure about this?’ ‘Yes, this type of retrieval was customized for a heist.’ the elf assassin smiles as he pulls his cloak over his head. The pair moves towards the wooden building together showing the skills of a pair of thieves that have been working with the other for a long time. The pass a rabbit that is quietly eating grass, two baby rabbits are following her lead. Wrast runs by the bunnies passing within 3 feet without disturbing them. Talia takes this as a challenge and she attempts to pass them but she slips in a rain puddle scaring off the rabbits and almost taking a spill as she has to drop a hand to the ground the stabilize herself and keep her balance. Wrast snickers slightly. ‘Better now than in there I suppose.’ (Stealth checks for above scene Wrast - 27 Talia - Crit Fail (9)) Entering into the large structure the two note the fresh footprints in the huge quantities of dried blood. Most of the bodies of the dead have been stacked up in the courtyard the group had made it’s entrance from. They appear to prepared for a mass cremation and the stack is over 30 feet wide at the base and easily extends 20 feet into the air. Men, women and children all piled together to meet their final rest in a pyre at some point tomorrow they assume. They go slightly into the house almost having the leap from patch to patch to avoid the still sticky blood that covers over 80% of the flooring. The two hill giants set here to guard do not notice the pair of rogues pass into the house. Talia notes where the chief of the Hill Giants fell and from there they follow the drag marks and bloody footstep to a wall where the secret panel is still slightly open. (Stealth checks for the above scene Wrast - 26 Talia - 27) Talia and Wrast look into the hallway beyond the opening and another guard is posted here but he is slipping in and out of sleep. On her mark Talia motions the time for both of them to slip past the dozing guard. They have no issue evaded the guard at the top of the stairs and begin to descend the stairs to the basement and still the blood trail of the chief can be seen on the stairs. (Stealth checks for the above scene Wrast - 26 Talia - 22) The first flight of stairs end at a small platform where a torch still sputters its flame revealing the two dark intruders. Wrast glances towards Talia catching her attention he moves his hands in a secret pattern of signs and motions which Talia recognizes as Thieve’s Cant. ‘We can still back out but so far we are doing great’ signals Wrast. Talia simply signs back ‘If we can pull this off we can save my friends from facing these beasts.’ and finally motions ‘The first night almost killed some of them.’ ‘Understood’ Reaching the bottom of the stairs they uncover a large chamber carved out of the stone, in this large room almost 70 feet by 70 feet they see 3 more cyclops and 3 large two headed giants standing guard around the room. The couple notes 2 alarm gongs setup in this chamber and after scanning the room even though the blood of the chieftain leads directly across the room they decide the best course of action would be to slip off to the north into a side room where the door is slightly open but getting to that door reveals 3 hill giants playing cards and 6 orcs scampering around the room. This room would be very difficult to sneak through so the pair turns back to the main room and work out a plan. Talia points out a large oil basin chandelier in the middle of the room above a stack of crates and barrels. Wrast grins and signs ‘Ok do you think you can hit an arrow into the basin without having the arrow fall back to the ground?’ Talia nods and readies an arrow as Wrast casts a small spell as a bat appears in the room and begins flying wildly around the room catching the attention of the guards. Talia breathes out to signal she is ready to fire. Wrast steers the illusionary bat towards the flame and it appears to bump into the fire filled basin at the same time that Talia’s arrow bounces off the chain holding the basin and falls right into the flame. (Natural 20 on the attack roll here) A small amount of flaming oil drips onto the crates and barrels and the guards quickly move to put out the small fires before the supplies brought down from above catch full light. The pair slide across the room hidden from view with the distraction they made and reach a door which they slip into. (Two sets of stealth used above before the arrow shot Wrast - 24 Talia - 27. After the basin and moving towards the door Wrast - 31 Talia - 26) Talis and Wrast slip into a well-lit hallway and Wrast signs to Talia ‘That shot was perfect!’ They move quietly down the hall moving north and they know they need to head south at some point and that is assuming the disk was on the chieftain. Ahead the wall is broken open revealing a cavern which would allow them to head back toward the south or they could continue north or west through another broken wall that would lead to maybe the exit again. They decide to enter into the caverns and slide along the walls as quiet as they can when Wrast grabs a hold of the wall and it crumbles causing the a loud sliding of rock to the ground. A small grunt can be heard ahead followed by footfalls heading their way. Talia draws her bow and Wrast pulls his swords, they both tense up expecting a hill giant or something worse to come around that corner but instead they see a single ogre. Talia having the ‘advantage’ with her bow shot catches the ogre with an arrow in it neck (Another natural 20) sending it to the ground choking on its own blood. Unable to signal for help the beast dies slumped against the wall. Wrast exchanges another look of ‘Damn girl that was awesome’ with Talia as they continue south through the caves. (Stealth checks for the above scene Wrast - 15 Talia - 28(natural 20)) The tunnel opens into a huge cavern where it appears a small tribe of ogres is living and in a vision that will haunt the rogues for some time there was also lots of loving. Over 20 ogres occupy this cavern and the exact size of the room is unknown as it extends past the vision of either thief. They are able to scoot past the cavern and find a hall made from the nicely carved walls leading West the hallway is 20 feet wide and in the torch light almost 100 feet down the hall they can see once again the trail of the chieftain’s blood. (Stealth checks for the above scene Wrast - 33 (natural 20) Talia - 17) They follow the blood through an open door and then into a final room where they see the Chieftain’s body set upon a bed. A frost giant guard is set here to protect the chief’s body and he rises having heard the rogues come into the room and turns to face them. Initiatives Wrast - 24 Talia - 19 and Frost Giant - 19 (Natural 20 so he goes before Talia) Round 1 Wrast quick action drops a glass orb to the ground as it hits the ground and Talia expects to hear the shattering of glass she hears nothing as the entire room is covered in silence. Wrast signals we need to make this quick use the Viper’ Wrast swings wide on his main blade and comes nowhere close the giant but the Vicious Blade (off-hand) stabs the giant deeply in the thigh his scream completely silenced by the magic of the orb. 28 damage (8 piercing, 20 sneak attack) The giant swings it's great axe down on Wrast, the first attack misses aas Wrast is able to flatten himself against the wall as the axe slams into the ground without a sound. The second attempt to strike the elf rogue comes high and Wrast drops into a split as the axe slams into the wall where the man’s head was only a second before. Giant rolled an 11 total against Wrast’s AC of 19 and then a 15. Talia slides Viper’s kiss from her side and in the other hand her dagger. Viper’s kiss piercing the giant’s side and her dagger comes in from a good angle piercing the giant’s leg. Viperkiss 24 to hit 13 piercing damage 16 sneak attack Dagger 8 piercing Round 2 Wrast jumps up from the ground places one foot on the wall and jumps behind the giant slipping the rapier of speed into it’s back and the vicious rapier misses its target. Rapier of speed 16 to hit and a total of 32 damage. The giant enraged by the annoying elf spins around with his axe attacking recklessly. The first attack hits as rage fills the giant’s eyes, Wrast spins with the motion of the axe to reduce the impact as the raging but silent giant screams and the axe is thrust into Wrast. First swing 28 to hit for 24 damage reduced to 12 and the second hits for 33 (crit) Talia mentally commands Viperkiss to envemon and the tongue of the snake of the blade licks along the length of the blade. She jabs forward with the rapier and hit the giant and the poison finds its way past the giant’s constitution. Her dagger also lands into the back of the giant’s calf. The giant unable to withstand the volley of attacks from the pair falls. Viperkiss hits piercing for 13, 15 sneak attack and 18 poison as the giants save was only a 13. The dagger caused 7 (Stealth checks for the above scene Wrast - 32 Talia - 16) Wrast motions to Talia we need to worry about getting the thing we came for and we can worry about wounds later but she ignores him and patches him up. They search the room and the chieftain and find the stone disk not on the chieftain but in a chest in the room Back-tracking and returning to the surface the rogues have retrieved the tablet for the group and saved lots of pain to the group as a whole.
