Call of Cthulhu 7th edition game

So as you can see I am looking to put together a 7th edition Call of Cthulhu game. Seeing as CoC is kind of a different style of game I kinda have different wants from the game and players than I would have for D&D or other games. As this is a CoC game it is going to be fairly dark with themes of intrigue and horror taking the forefront. Background: The recession is in full swing and while the "Dirty 30's" are drawing to a close there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. While society and economy have steadied themselves from the turmoil of previous years, things are far from good. The coldest winter in 20 years is battering the Big Apple. The poor cling to the few sources of heat that they have while the homeless die in droves, frozen in their death throes, dozens dieing each week...and those are just the ones that are found. The city officials worry that many of the cities vagrants have become buried beneath the snow, waiting for warmer months to be discovered. As if to add to the despair, the city has also been under the grip of a serial killer for nearly a year. Named "The Vampire Killer" by the newspapers due to the two puncture holes on the victims bodies and their cause of death being exsanguination, the Vampire Killer has become some what of a mix between urban myth and celebrity. With a dozen known victims already claimed by the killer already, the number has seen a recent spike these last few months. People fear it is only a matter of time before they strike again. When: This game will be played on Thursdays (not sure on whether it will be weekly or biweekly yet). There is no set time as it will depend on schedules but the plan is to be sometime after 7pm EST/EDT. It also wont be starting till the end of August as that is the earliest that I can fully commit to the game. I am starting my search early in order to allow for a group to be put together that works well with my style and vice versa. Medium: We will be using mics and skype. As with the mic thing, I would like only those that don't have screaming children, barking dogs or the like going on in the background. I understand that sometimes noisy shit happens and that is cool but not when it is constant. Setting: The game is going to be set in New York City and will start during February of 1937. I am going to be blending real events/occurances in with fictional ones in order to create the stories. Even those real events may/will be altered in order to fit the theme of the game. The one facet of the reality that will be bent slightly is the amount of sexism and racism that is present in the world. While I do like recreating gritty settings, I also don't want to have the game become focused on either of those concepts as it detracts from the overall game. I also don't want to limit character concepts or ostracize players via either subject as well. Both racism and sexism will be used in the game to add to the story but will not be the focus. Also it goes without saying that people that join shouldn't abuse either topic as it could directly effect players. Who: I'm looking for players that want to delve into not only their characters but the story itself. People that have no problems taking the reigns, so to speak, to play out scenario's. I plan to frequently ask for the players to describe people/things/locations that are important to their characters so being able to do so is needed. Players that love a good mystery, riddles and investigation style games are my target players so if that is you and you like the genre then shoot me a message. With the dark themes prevalent in this game, players will need to be ok with potentially disturbing scenes. Also given the horror aspect, players and I will need to agree on keeping an appropriate ambiance during those times. While I love cracking jokes, they will detract and ultimately work against the story/concepts if used all the time. This isn't to say that the game will be dark 24/7 as that would make it stale and lessen the effects. For those interested feel free to respond on here or to send me a message via PM. In that message tell me about yourself and what you love about the game. As a GM/ST/DM/Rule Keeper or what ever you wish to call it, I always have a session zero where the players and I get together and not only have a meet and greet but also a character creation time. This allows for the players to know what they are going to be working with as well as ask any questions they have. I do houserule some stuff just to streamline the game a little more (specially for new players) so I also go over all that during the session zero as well. I would love if this game could eventually become a podcast (or perhaps even broadcast on twitch, although would need help in that regards) however that is not my ultimate goal. With that said I always record my sessions as recording makes it easier for me to "take notes" for the game cause I can just listen to stuff again lol. So players will need to be ok with being recorded, even if it does not get published. Well thanks for taking the time to read this giant message and I hope to hear back from you all soon.
Bumping this and hoping that it isn't coming across as daunting. I'm definitely willing to help new players. As long as you have a desire to tell a good story then the rest falls into place. Feel free to message me with any questions.
I like the sound of it your game, been an avid fan of Lovecraft, and an I enjoy playing the Arkham horror board game. And have read a few of the novels and back story to Lovecraft.  I have never played in a Cthulhu campaign, The game start time is horrible for me. If you must start the game at this time, i would like to be an alternate or someone that shows up considerably late to the game.  If you don't like to use skype, which i am also in that book.  There are many other VOIP programs that have push to talk options, to help eliminate the background noise & clutter.  I too dislike listening to people breath and or eat food, or kids running in the background, it takes away so much from a game.
The time is a little negotiable so there is wiggle room, as for Skype...I am going to stick with it for a couple reasons. The first is because I have found that it is the most stable VoIP out there. The second and perhaps more importantly reason is the audio recording program I have is for Skype and I am a huge believer of the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" mentality.
Bump, and I should mention that this game is new player friendly. If the day is the problem, Sunday may become a valid option as well.
With three investigators having answered the call I'm looking for one more to hopefully join the ranks. Do you have the guts or insatiable need to learn the truth? Do you wish to protect the world from the evils that walk it? Or will you be content to turn a blind eye and stay in blissful ignorance? In the end the world will keep turning but what remains is up to you. Will you heed the call of Cthulhu?
