Can I carry characters across different campaigns?

I love the new character abilities update, but is there a way I can take a character from one campaign and use it on another? Perhaps we could have characters in a "character vault" (sort of like our existing library) so we can play with the same characters without having to remake them?
I think this is a good idea.
what do you mean "keep" them? Do you mean the idea of a folder that would allow an individual to keep statistics for a character, or do you mean sort of a database...well now that I think about it would we need a vault, couldn't you just save such material on like Mythweaver's character sheets?

I totally agree with Earmouse it would be nice for player to be able to store and even create characters outside of an individual campaign. This would fit in nicely with a suggestion I posted on the mentor section about integrating the PC token more closely with the character sheet (to let players pick their own token and for pre-linked tokens to be drag-able off the character sheet). If the players made and stored characters separate from the campaign then there could be a feature to suggest a character to a gm when you join a game and then a copy of that character would be added to the campaign and automatically put under the control of the player, then (if my other suggestion was implemented) the GM could just drag a pre-linked token direct from the character sheet onto the map. I think this would be a very "slick" way to deal with tokens and characters, this would also be more convenient for player (and gms) who could set up macros/abilities linked to attributes ahead of time maybe even before the campaign is started.
this would also be more convenient for player (and gms) who could set up macros/abilities linked to attributes ahead of time maybe even before the campaign is started. The way I've done it is to set up a "scene" in my current campaign that's just white space with no tokens on it and set my players to that page when we're not playing. They can rejoin and edit their character sheets as they please. But this system would be way better.
I play and GM in Pathfinder Society where the GMs change. So I can GM one game and then another GM could take over for scenario 2. The same characters are kept by the players. A the GM change, I believe the only way, right now, to play in 2 different campaigns, is to recreate my character sheet (with attributes and abilities) on both campaigns. If there was a way to export the character sheet from one campaign, and import it into another, this would provide significant value for me (and all players of the Pathfinder Society) Maybe there is already a way to do this that I may have missed? Thanks
In conjunction with this each player could also have a kind of gallery in which all of your characters are somehow viewable, so you could share your ideas with each other outside of a game. Just and idea.
+1
I feel This is needed as some have said not just for character transfer but also to make the job of the gm transferring characters from page to page an easier job as of now its a pain in the arse to move them and then when you go back to a different page have to change there stats so the have damage from a previous battle or something cause when going back and forth its hard to keep track.
The ability to provide a token and a journal entry that could be edited outside of a campaign would be a great help.  A player would not need to wait for the journal entry or use a token that the DM has to find/create
This would be awesome, we are trying to set-up a Mansion of Madness with some friends we just moved away from. Mansions has the same characters but we'd like to switch GM's and stuff, The same character are in Arkham Horror as well. Would be really cool to be able to create characters and save them to a personal library.
nice idea! I think there should be possibility to make characters as before joining campain, and then in game make requests for GM and after his approval it appears with editing possibility
We have the archive feature....could that be made availible in other campaigns?
What about an Import/Export feature. For example, if you have a character (that's yours, or you're the GM) that you want to back up, move to another RPG, etc, you would simply press the Export button, and all information relevant to that character is saved onto your hard drive in an XML/text/whathaveyou file. Then you'd simply go to the appropriate RPG (the same one if you lost data for some reason, or another RPG you want the character to be in), and press the Import feature. Though the Import Character feature might be better as a GM only feature, or toggleable, to prevent abuse. No idea how easy that would be to code.
or just pop-up for GM "Player X wants to upload character, do you allow?"
