Token loses character sheet info

So I've had tokens for my players journals. For the last couple months I've been able to copy their token from one map to the next and the token would keep the link to the character sheet. Recently I've run into a problem of when I copy a token, it loses the link to the character sheet. I have to redo the link on every map. Does anyone have suggestions to fix this?  Also, I ran into something strange tonight. Trying to copy multiple tokens at a time isn't working. I'd select 4 at a time, copy them, but when I paste them only one token would paste to the map.  Any help or tips of what to look at would be appreciated. Thanks.
Your tokens, when pasting them, probably all pasted to the same spot.  Move them around, and you should see all of them were in the same location. After linking the token, setting up stuff you want default like lighting, click on the character sheet, click the edit button on the top right, then on default token click use selected token.  Then whenever you drag the character onto the page it will show up with the same settings you had on it before.

Im having the same problem.  cant copy a group of 6 player character tokens from map to map (they are not overlaid it only copies one of the 6).  It only copies one at a time and saved info is lost on the token (links to character sheet, vision/light settings, nameplate display settings all have to be reset).  As I change maps frequently in my game this is a major annoyance. Linking the tokens works though as Bob V. described.  Now at least I can drag and drop each one onto the new map from the character list.   Settings were saved (I relinked each token just to be safe). Im going to instruct my players not to edit their tokens at all - if they want to make changes let me make them and save them (if they wanted to replace the graphic for the token with a new picture etc).   This will allow me to retain certain information I have set about torches, light from magical weapons and limits of infravision/darkvision for each character.  Ive recorded this using the auras (mainly so I can determine if enemies see the approaching light from the party etc) and set the auras to gm only edits.
I deleted the tokens I had in game and reimported them to the game. Linking tokens to journals and saving info when copying is working again for me. I am also able to copy groups of tokens at once again. So I don't know if it was a browser issue(was using chrome before on Firefox right now) or if the tokens data got corrupted somehow in Roll20. Thanks for the advice on linking tokens, Bob. That way is much cleaner and easier than how I was doing it.

Bob V. said: Your tokens, when pasting them, probably all pasted to the same spot.  Move them around, and you should see all of them were in the same location. It's not that. Literally when the tokens are copied and then pasted they lose all the character sheet info as well setting like vision, effect icons, etc. Also when I try to copy and paste a group of tokens at once, only one token total will be pasted. This makes transferring a party of character tokens from one map to another impossible. You now have to copy and paste each one, one at a time, then remap to the character sheet, then reset all effects icons, vision, name flags, etc for each token. It's onerous. RE: "After linking the token, setting up stuff you want default like lighting, click on the character sheet, click the edit button on the top right, then on default token click use selected token. Then whenever you drag the character onto the page it will show up with the same settings you had on it before." This is not useful if you use effects icons since those all have to be reset using this method.

Yes this works for me as well.  If I import brand new tokens and don't use the existing tokens on my maps then I can copy and paste them as before. This is a huge problem for me though because I run, literally, 4 campaigns and have almost a dozen template campaigns that, if this is not fixed, will require a huge amount of work to go back and replace tokens that I've already placed in a ton of compaigns.
