Hey there! Starting up a campaign here in the next few weeks that utilizes the AFMBE (All Flesh Must Be Eaten) rules system. No experience is necessary, as one of the advantages of the system is that its very "common sense", and even beyond that, I'm fairly experienced with simply "handling the rules side" for my players. I'm a long time roleplayer, mostly using pbp sites like RPOL (which I ran a very successful game for over 8 years that's still running on there), but I'm looking to switch over to roll20 to get more for myself and my players. In particular, this campaign is a fairly typical "survival horror" game, in which the players are relatively "normal" people, and the game begins before any outbreaks or infections have set in. I'm running with a new idea, that helps me out tremendously, which is "character archetypes". In other words, I have several "general descriptions" of roles that need to be filled by characters, to ensure that we have a well rounded set of personalities for the game, but beyond the small guidelines, the players are allowed to be whomever they wish. A list of the archetypes that have still not been filled will be listed below: ARCHETYPE #1: (Male OR Female) Police Deputy Description: A deputy (one of only a few) of the town. Could be related to the sheriff, or not. This character archetype has a relationship with somebody in their dispatching office (brother/sister/boyfriend/girlfriend, its up to the player). This character should feel relatively representative of the town, and should have a good feeling about protecting the town. Being a representative for the town, deputies are generally quite friendly, or congenial, and this character archetype is no different. ARCHETYPE #3: (Female only) Teacher/waitress/serving girl (pretty much any career in a small town that has a lot of interaction with townsfolk) Description: The woman should have a relationship that recently ended BADLY, and will never go back (i.e. abusive boyfriend/husband) and she has lived in Livingstone for a bit to get away from it all. She was born here, however, and so Livingstone is very familiar, regardless. Other than a small piece of their background, the character is able to be whomever they wish, within reason. ARCHETYPE #5: (Male OR Female) College-bound Youth Description: This character is either a football player (male) or a cheerleader (female) who is very talented at what they do. They are 18 years old, and have a full ride scholarship to a local college, and they're expected to perform for their new school at whatever they do (football or cheerleading). Fairly formulaic, but the character has only these restrictions. The connection that should be created with this character is the OTHER sex version of themselves. In other words, if the football player is a PC, then the cheerleader could be an NPC (or another PC if you can handle that). Either way, they should be in a relationship, and have strong ties to one another. These characters embody the "but I had so much to live for" portion of the campaign, and will remind everybody how hard life HAS gotten because of the outbreak. Other than a strong relationship to the other PC (NPC?), and a strong desire to go to college and succeed, this character is fairly flexible with what they do (i.e. baseball player instead of football/hockey, etc.). Just keep in mind this is a small town, and things that fit there should work. Like I've said before, anybody, even with no afmbe experience, is more than welcome. We're a group that will be fairly centered around roleplaying to the best of our ability, enjoying ourselves (most important!) and delving deep into the nitty gritty details of a (very) detail rich campaign. This is not a game for players simply looking to blow off steam shooting zombies :) We're going to meet up with all of our players before determining a solid "day" or "days" that we game, as myself and the current players are fairly flexible. We're all adults here, so we understand missing sessions now and again.
