Running Ghostbusters on Roll20

Hi all, I'm a newbie to role-playing and have plans to run a game of the Ghostbusters Role-Playing game for some friends of mine. We are running it as a text-based game here on Roll20. I've been told that it's the best system online to play tabletop RPGs, but I have some concerns about running this specific game/system because of how unique it is compared to, say, a DnD game or a World of Darkness game. My first concern is the 'ghost die'. The simple way to go about this is to simply call the first dice number rolled the 'ghost die' and if it's a 6, the ghost effect takes place. I've done a bit of research and I think that there is some way to make the dice rolls visible on the screen? If that is the case, could I customize the dice image to make a ghost die (a d6 with a Ghostbusters logo in place of the six) and, if so, is there a way to make that dice a part of each roll? In the game, for each roll made by any player or GM, one must be the ghost die. I'm also not sure how to go about making use of the 'cards' the game makes use of. Equipment is used in the form of physical cards instead of just writing down your items on a character sheet or whatever. Again, the more cumbersome way to do this would be to just mark this stuff on the given sheet, but I'm trying to recreate the original game as closely as possible. I understand that there are decks of cards in the game...is it possible to insert my images of the original game's equipment cards as a deck on Roll20 and 'give' the cards players have to the players for them to look at? Would they have to be visible on the main screen or could they just look at them like they would their character sheet? Lastly, the character sheets in the Ghostbusters game are given in the form of 'ID cards'. If the above system for equipment cards lets me give players cards for them to look at in their journal or whatever, I'll just use scanned images of the cards themselves. If that doesn't work, could I customize a character sheet to reflect the information on the ID cards? A lot of questions, I know, but I'm admittedly a newbie and I'd like to create seamless experience for the players (and myself!)

Hello, welcome Banquo. You should be able to easily play what you described on Roll20. There will be some prep and set-up time for the game master, but it won't be too bad. First here is the Wiki docs link for both Rollable Tables and Card Decks, that you will be using, https://wiki.roll20.net/Card_Decks_and_Rollable_Ta... Skip to #3 and try the community-created Ghostbusters character sheet first. It might have a Ghost Die already built-in. If not then return to #1 and #2 on this list to set it up. 1. For the 'Ghost Die' set up a Rollable Table. Then set up a Macro (this just means a clickable button) that rolls your 'Ghost Die' rollable table. /r 1t[ghost-die] 1B. If you want to get fancy, make Macros (buttons) for every type of die roll that is needed to-be-combined with a Ghost Die, and include the Ghost Die roll in the macro along with the other "regular" die rolls. Because you said that you always need to roll a ghost die along with other rolls. /r 1d6 /r 1t[ghost-die] 2. Yes Roll20 has the feature to set up your own Card Deck. You can import the card images and place them on Cards in the game, that can be used a lot like Cards on a tabletop. Each Player can keep their Cards in their Hand. The GM can give out cards. The players can view the cards in their hand on the main screen. 3. For the Character Sheet you have multiple options. Roll20 already has a free, community-created ID Card character sheet for Ghostbusters, so you probably will be very excited to use this if it fits the game and what you're looking for. If this does not work, I highly recommend that you type the ID Card on the BIO TAB of a character (this is a free text area instead of a true Character Sheet with fields to form-fill). Last and least-recommended it is possible to program your own version that uses fields but this is more complicated and shouldn't be necessary for your game that you described so don't get distracted by the feature of 'custom character sheets' if that's not what you really need. When you click Start New Game and start to set up your game, on the Game Settings you can choose a Community-created character sheet, and that is where you can try the one that's already made for Ghostbusters.
