DND5 - How do you feel about randomizing the entirity of character creation?

I'm building a DND5 campaign and I've always wanted to do random character generation but I feel like I'm the only one. I really want to have players roll 4d6, drop the lowest, and go straight down the stat line so that's a definite. But how about random race, subrace, class, or even gender? Is it a bad idea to impose that amount of random generation?
