[3.5e]New DM help with NPCs/API stuff

Hello! I just started DMing a game for some of my local friends and turned to Roll20 because I wanted something more robust than a paper and pencil, and VTT really appealed to me for a sort of couch co-op gaming session. I've been stumbling through the wiki and tutorials trying to grasp things like Dynamic lighting, macros, etc, and while those have been super helpful, I have a few questions before I put in tons of work that may not be necessary. I understand linking tokens to NPCs and the value of having NPC sheets for various macro functions, but the sheer amount of data entry necessary for each NPC seems kind of... tedious. I there anything like an NPC sheet library with a ton of entries already made? even if it was just monster manual entries it would literally cut hours out of my prep time. Second question, if the first question is best answered with, "not really," is there any way to dynamically reference d20srd website with the API to pull monsters as needed? I tried to find answers to these questions in the forum already but haven't seen them, so I apologize if this information is available elsewhere. Thanks! EDIT:: I noticed there is a "Vault" feature that allows you to import characters you have edit rights on from any game you are in. If there is not a more elegant way, is anyone willing to invite me to a game so I can steal all their hard work? Additionally, maybe 3.5 gms as a community want to make a "shared game" resource to pull NPC sheets from?

Welcome to Roll20 Arjuna, I understand linking tokens to NPCs and the value of having NPC sheets for various macro functions, but the sheer amount of data entry necessary for each NPC seems kind of... tedious. I there anything like an NPC sheet library with a ton of entries already made? even if it was just monster manual entries it would literally cut hours out of my prep time. Unfortunately, there is not currently anything like this for 3.5. They are working on setting up a compendium system (and have a pretty much complete one for 5e and a semi-complete one for PF). Second question, if the first question is best answered with, "not really," is there any way to dynamically reference d20srd website with the API to pull monsters as needed? Unfortunately, the API is restricted from accessing any web content outside of the Roll20 environment. They did this to limit the possibilities for malicious programming. There are however some character importers around (of varying success and detail). I'm not sure there is one for 3.5 though.  This is the PF version. I tried to find answers to these questions in the forum already but haven't seen them, so I apologize if this information is available elsewhere. Thanks! Heh, half the time I ask a question it turns out it's been asked multiple times, there's a lot of knowledge stored in the forums/wiki and sometimes it isn't the easiest to find. This is a great idea, I don't play 3.5, but I'd love to see this for PF as well. It could be a nice workaround to evade the problems with the non-5e systems lack of comprehensive compendiums. Once again, welcome, and happy rolling, Scott
Thanks so much for the detailed reply. Do you think I'd be better served trying to start that vault idea in a thread in a different part of the forum?
