Height mapping & half-transparency options for LoS

So the LoS system is great for handling dungeons, with clear defined walls and whatnot. But not so great for, say, mountainous landscapes where LoS restrictions come from elevation differences more than anything. Another shortfall are dust and smoke puffs that only cause partial obscurity. What I'd like to see then is a more advanced, maybe a toggleable option for elevation-based line of sight; have 3-5 colors for painting with on a semi transparent map, each color standing for a certain elevation. Elevation steps could be customizeable, but constant. Each token could have a standard PoV height based on token width, with customization options for cases where the token is oddly sized. Another improvement then would be semi transparent lighting walls for smoke etc. effects. Maybe also the ability to toggle a token to act as a semi transparent view obstructor

Neat suggestion on the Elevations. For some of your atmospheres that would use semi-transparent, smoke, dust, fog, mist, sandstorm, note that another method is using Transparent PNG graphics, which you can make/upload or find in the Roll20 Marketplace. This is not exactly the same as a Lighting solution would be, just another option to explore. Examples of semi-transparent tokens for environmental effects like smoke, rain, dust: https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/search/?keyw...
