RP: Fresh of the boat

"Finally" Tharn thought "Haven. About bloody time". The ship was finally pulling into Haven port, and the air was freezing in the early morning. The trip had been long, and worse, horribly boring. He had had a lot of time to think of his past mistakes as they had gotten more than enough time to sink in properly. For all this time stuck in boats, he could have been home enjoying meals and parties common people could only dream of, but no. No he had thrown it all away with his foolishness. No point moping about it he thought, and gathered his things. He could finally find respite from his thoughts by doing something. He needed somewhere to sleep, something to eat and maybe a stiff drink. First stop was an inn, any inn. He produced a tiny little flame in his hands to get the worst of the cold out of his fingertips. As he stood on the docks and looked around the city looked like it was sleeping. Quiet and still in the chilling air, apart for the smoke coming from buildings and a few people in the port. Apparently the closest inn was Tipsy Mermaid, according to some of the sailors. Well, that's a start, Tharn thought for himself as he headed into the city.

Finding the Tipsy Mermaid was easy enough, the directions was pretty spot on. Stepping inside the inn was entering a small piece of paradise. The warmth and smells of a kitchen preparing for another busy day. A hearty meal later and a quick chat with the very friendly and helpful innkeepers he had gotten some idea what to do next. The obvious solution was to work for one of the ten companies. High risk and high pay, sounds perfect. Living the rest of his life safe but without the cash to have fun sounds like dying in its own way. "It's not like I have skills in any proper jobs" he thought to himself. "Sure I could live of the land and all that, but Ive been living my whole life as a spoiled noble. Living a feral life is out of the picture." After getting quick rundown off the different companies and getting directions, Tharn find himself in front of the White Horse Inn. Not sure if the most fitting company, he reflected, but it sounds intriguing. He's never been allowed to study any magic at all, even after he got a good understanding of the druid spells that came naturally for him. The thought alone of having accsess to a full libary of magick knowlegde was intoxicating Free accomadation and food also helps. more cash to spare on wine and somewere to sleep if I spend all my money. again. There is only one thing... were is the door handle?
As you approach the White Horses inn, you see a young red-headed elven woman watching amusedly as a dwarf raises a shiny hand to the door. OOC: more details @ http://bit.ly/2bhXrEu
"Well, If nothing else I'm not alone" Tharn thinks to himself as he walks up to the pair, "Looks like he's casting a spell, judging from the hand. makes sense, to have it as an entry test I guess. only hope it doesn't need to be one specific spell." Wonder if they can tell me how this whole company introduction thing is suppose to work. "Hello friend, could anyone of you help me out? I was looking to join the White Horse Brigade."
"Hi there, stranger" - says Hydlian as the door opens in front of him - "The only advice I can give you is to read the inscription on the door closely! Hopefully we'll see you on the other side!". He then goes in, accompanied by the elf woman. The door closes instantly after the couple.
The door closes and Tharn is left there standing, staring in silence at the writings over the wall. A single word breaks the silence as he stands there alone in the streets. "Fuck." Cant read it. And after lugging across half the city Tharn is not really feeling in the mood for walking around asking strangers for help. well, maybe he'll have to, but he could at least try to open the door with a spell first. He grabs the druidic focus in one hand and puts the other on the facing of the door. "I hope this thing reacts to healing spells, I really don't wanna scare a whole city block with the thunderwave boom."
As soon as you touch the door and while you are thinking to yourself "... this thing reacts ..." you see a spark of electricity lunging at you and you get zapped. (1d6 lightning damage)

"Ow! ya fucker!" he squeals and by reflex sends a flame ball straight into the door with the other hand. Damnation that hurts he thinks to himself as he waves off the tingling of the shock. A bloody lightning spell just by touching it? a miracle there's not piling up cat or rat corpses with this type of getup. Huh. so that other guy got his hands glowing and then touched the door. maybe spell first then touch? Tharn produses a flame in his hand and presses the hand, flame and all on to the door. either this will also sting as hell and hes going to need that last healing spell he has saved up, or, just maybee this is going to work.

Before you can finish your thoughts and the first fire that you throw as a reflex into the door it slowly gives way, the lady, just having gone up a few steps looks back. "Oh dear, what is it today? Two at once? Pyrrah? Pyrrah! Would you please take that one with you as well and explain everything to him? I am counting on you for this..." She looks for a second back at Tharn: "Oh, and please don't do that with the other doors, they might actually burn, and never ever try something like that close to my library!"
Tharn blinks, twice. Standing there still as a rock for a moment, utterly stomped that it worked, flame still burning in his hand. "yes sir, sorry sir, I mean ma'am. Will not happen again!" and quickly waves the flame away. A quick bow of respect, and he gathers his things quickly and steps inside, quite relieved how it all turned out.

Pyrrha looks over her 2 charges. "Um well welcome as initiates of the white horses. Hydlian and um sorry I didn't get your name. You are?" Pyrrha inquires. "I'm Pyrrha, please to meet you. You're only allowed access to the general library. The more you prove your capabilities the more privileges you will be provided with." She starts leading them toward their quarters. "We do not have a bar but the Tipsy Mermaid is a good one if you like your drink, if you can handle strong drink I recommend Skullbuster. Any questions?"
"Tharn's the name, my pleasure" he says, buying himself time to go over in his head what he might need. "Yes, questions: Is there a stable set up for white horse members? And is there a bank or other form for secure storage I could use? Are there any good spots around to get a lavish meal and would you like to join me for dinner? I've been stuck on a boat with blockhead sailors, rubbish food and watered down ale for weeks. A good meal and good conversation would be most refreshing!" He says it in a way that does not come out as flirtatious, not at all. More like he was offering a cold beer to a friend. And the way he emphasizes the lack of wit with the sailors it seems he is desperate for some intelligent company.
"I haven't had to stable anything yet, but I will take you up on the offer. We can ask Lady Laksander on the way." She replies. They arrive at the quarters of the tower. Pyrrha consults what bunks are filled and points to some open ones. "Pick one of these and the chest at the end is where you can secure your belongings. They are safe for anything that you want to store only you should be able to access them." she says to Tharn and Hydlian. "We don't have an inn or a bar, but I recommend the Tipsy Mermaid. If you like the drink they have a local classic called the Skullbuster. I just ate but I could go for a 3rd helping. *burp*." She tells Tharn and turns to Hydlian. "Ah um, are you joining us?" She asks him. On their way out she asks Lady Laksander about stabling.
"Aye, laddie. This dwarf could certainly use a good meal. First round of.. what did you call it.. Skullbuster?.. it's on me!".
