New player looking for feedback on my character concept, thanks. Want to play D&D e5

Description of character: Osborn Hilltopple, likes to be called Oz. He is a rogue lightfoot halfling, 3ft tall, alittle overweight at 5st, dark green hair, aged 22 and has lighty tanned skin. Oz parents owned and ran a small farm which grew grain, there was hardly enough food to feed them. At the age of 12 his twin sister Diana went missing with no trace of what happened, from then on Osborn started to pickpocket people to help provide money to feed him and his parents. In his teens he started to hang around with other teens from the Thieves guild. This gave him a opportunity to join and learn from them, which he did. At 16 he left home and went to live with Dragoon, a high ranking thieves guild member. Dragoon never stole from the poor only the wealthy. In his late teens Oz earnt more gold than he needed with this gold he enjoyed very good food and lots of it, this made him on the chubby side more chubby than most over half-lings he comes across. Oz learnt good ideals and traits from Dragoon. At the age of 20 Oz committed a terrible crime one which he feels so bad for, even worst for the fact that a innocent person ended up in jail for it. Osborn main ambitions is to find his long lost twin sister Diana and to make enough gold to free the innocent person in jail.
First feedback is don't make a character until you have joined a campaign. I don't mean to sound rude but it's a beginner mistake that can be rather irritating and might close down some doors from you. It's rather pointless to bother making an elaborate backstory when you have no idea what the scope, location and theme of a campaign will be. It's enough for the Thieves Guild to not exist in some DM's setting to render your character moot, for example.
