You were called to Neverwinter at the behest of Gundren Rockseeker. He promised a business proposition that sounded too good to pass up. He told you he to seek him at The Lucky Drake, a newer inn overlooking the docks, built after the fall and subsequent rebuilding of the city. Announcing yourself to the proprietor and asking for Gundren, you were told that he had arrived a few days previously but was called out on some important matter, promising to return as soon as he could. But your arrival was expected, and Gundren has left you a note: "Thank you, friend, for answering my call. A room is at your ready here at the Drake and a (modest, please) tab to cover your board and refreshments. I will be as quick as possible in coming back to greet you, so please await my return." While waiting, a few other travelers have shown up looking for Gundren as well. It seems he has invited a handful of disparate adventurer's to join him on whatever scheme he is cooking up. The Lucky Drake isn't the nicest inn in Neverwinter, but it's far from a dockside pirate's pub. Given that you have time to burn, you decide to take care of any mundane tasks that you can while in the city, as Gundren's venture promises travel and you may not see a city of this size again for some time. After your errands are run, you gather in the common room for an evening meal, and perhaps a few mugs of the tasty house ale... I'll leave the rest to you, adventurers, as this is your part of the tale to tell.
