About the game:
Currently, the game I am running is a crossbreed of the Requiem ruleset (first
edition) with Masquerade Metaplot and lore. The game is also a crossover of
other New World of Darkness games. Currently the other supernaturals that have
been introduced besides vampires are Werewolves and Mages, more will be
introduced slowly over time. This is a heavily character-driven game where
combat and hostilities will be sparse, with combat happening maybe every 4-6
sessions. If you are not interested in dialog-heavy games where character
development is the focus rather than rolling dice and fighting things; this is
not the game for you.
Right now we
have 3 main players who are dedicated until the end, which could take well over
a year, as this campaign has been going on for 10 months now. We’re looking for about 1 more person to
join us on our journey towards the final nights. If you wish to join, you
must adhere to the following, and be prepared to play for an extended period of
time. We take our roleplay very seriously.
Aspects of Masquerade & Requiem we’ve incorporated are as follows:
Clans Malkavian, Assamites, Giovanni, Tzimisci, Ravnos,
Lasombra, Setites, and Tremere have been carried over. Tzimisci, Assamites, Lasombra, Setites, and Giovanni are
not available to Players and remain strictly NPC’s. Rather than being a clan itself, Tremere are one of the covenants available in the game.
The Camarilla has replaced the Invictus in this
world, but is a shadow of itself in Masquerade. It is currently an underdog covenant
and is desperately trying to regain its former status as the one true
sect/covenant in the world.
Certain major metaplot characters and events
are/will be implemented at the GM’s discretion at varying dates. What happens
will not strictly follow how and when events took place during the Masquerade
metaplot.
Gehenna is a concern to this world and will be a
major focus of the plot as it moves forward.
With the above, that also means the Caine mythos
is also a reality and the Antediluvians are a possible major threat to the
world.
Everything besides the Invictus as stated above,
will remain from the requiem lore and rules.
Game Setting: The game is currently set in 2011 Los Angeles. On
Halloween night, 2010, the Camarilla suffered a major defeat at the hands of
the Carthians. But the first Carthian Prince in power quickly became corrupt,
selling out powerful kindred (and potential threats) to a group of hunters, and
was overthrown by the players. Currently, the Carthians are still in power, but
have a new prince on the throne.
Game System: As stated earlier, we will be using the Vampire: The Requiem first edition ruleset
to play the game, and will also be incorporating many elements and plot lines
from the Masquerade rulebooks/novels.
Playtime & Timezones: Currently, we are playing Sunday nights
at 9PM EST and often lasting until 3AM EST in the morning. If this is not workable for you, then please
let me know in your application, we are flexible and can probably change the
day to another weekend night, but the times will have to remain the same.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
We welcome and encourage new and inexperienced World of Darkness
players! If you are new to Vampire or World of Darkness in general, then
please do not be discouraged to send in your application. We highly discourage
rules lawyers in our game and because of this have no problems welcoming new
comers into our group. I will be willing to fully assist you in character
creation and understanding the rules required to play.
Roleplay is our top priority! – As stated before, we focus heavily
on character development and character-driven plot lines. This means that we
can have many sessions that consist only of dialogue and minimal dice rolling.
We also have house rules that players must be comfortable with in order to play
with us. These rules will be listed below. So if you’re looking for action and
combat packed session each day we play, then you will not be a good fit with
us.
We accept mature role players only! – Currently we are only looking
for players who are 18+, preferably 20 or over. This is because we want people
who will fit in well with the current players, and who can also handle mature
content. This game can and may contain occasional references to or instances of
sex, rape, BDSM, incest, physical and psychological torture, and gore. If any of these
things make you uncomfortable, then you might not enjoy your time within our
game.
Both Text and Voice RP will be encouraged and required! - In-between game sessions, players are
expected to participate in the various forms of text RP that will be available
to them. Failure to participate when your character is involved in a text
scene, will result in a warning or temporary suspension from the game. Voice will
be a requirement during all sessions we play.
House Rules:
On almost every roll, we implement the Roll 10
again rule, meaning on any dice that lands on a 10, you count as a success and
get to roll again.
We incorporate a system called the “Flourish System.”
This system allows players gain 1-3 dice for exceptional RP and for being extra
descriptive when performing an action or attack. Players are required to be
original and thoughtful with their explanations, being monotonous will not gain
the player anything.
Extended Actions are not common and will only be
rolled at the GM’s discretion.
During combat, instead of subtracting the
defense of an attacker, players will add their dice pool normally, but will
have to roll on or over the enemy’s defense. This makes combat more exciting in
general, and doesn’t give the players OOC stats/knowledge of their attacker
before it's necessary. Rolling on an enemy’s defense will still land an attack
for 1 damage of the type being inflicted.
In combat, players will be given per turn one
free action, one move action, and one standard action (e.g attacking, using a
skill, etc.).
The resource merit is non-existent in our game,
instead being replaced with real currency.
Players
will need to roll for their clan when making a character, rather than picking
one themselves. This makes it fair to all players since the original players
were turned from mortals, and therefore didn't have the option of choosing
their clan. This also keeps people from picking favorites and gives them a
sense of unfamiliarity, which fits with the tone of the game.
Malkavians are infected with Malkavia, but are
still their own clan, rather than a bloodline. In the world of our game,
Malkavians can come to be by being embraced by another Malkavian, or becoming
infected with Malkavia as a member of another clan. It is not currently known
by the players how infection occurs. This change happens gradually overtime,
and will not happen unless requested and okayed by the GM.
There may be other smaller changes, but for now
these are the major ones. Keep in mind that because we are heavily focused on
roleplay, in order to keep a good flow of things, some things will simply be
house ruled on the spot and then looked up later. Those who constantly feel the
need to look something up that is relatively minor, because they might lose or
gain a dice will not fit in here. How Do I Join?
To join our game,
simply send myself a private message with the following information inside of
it. Any applications posted on the forums will be ignored:
Please note: I will be looking over every application and responding to
each one on whether or not you will move to the second phase of the interview
process, or if your application simply isn’t what we’re looking for. Also, please
be as descriptive as you can! The more detail you put in, the more you’ll stand
out from the rest! And please note that unless specified, we are asking for
your real life information, not that of your character. Thank you!
