Game journal

hi guys. i missed last session and i really want to know what happened while i was away.  in other campaigns we used to keep a journal where each character writes what happened from his point of view. this way we keep the story line and also have a chance to show our characters internal world and do some more rule play in a unique way.  what do you say?
I tried that after the first session

Samson Journal entry 1 Sitting in the local tavern was a boon for me.  Having just arrived in town I wasn't sure where to begin looking for employment.  Fortunately a band of local heroes graciously accepted my company.  They seemed very welcoming of another traveler as well. I believe his name is Axell. The group is currently in the employ of the local parish that represents the realm's deities.  We were sent on a mission to explore a group of caves in a canyon outside of the city.   Our first waypoint on the journey was a small garrison.  Once we established contact with the chief of the constabulary there we were sent on our way to the canyon.   We arrived mid day and began exploring the first cave we came to in the canyon.  The senior mage in the group deftly cast a sleep spell on a hideous group of goblins we encountered.  I have often heard that elves, especially the greys, were graceful and artistic in their spell casting.  The stories I have heard pale in comparison to the skill of this wizard.  I am awestruck. I must also mention that during my time in the tavern I bonded with a dwarf from the adventuring group.  His name is Calus. He, like me, is a connoisseur of the most divine beverages that have graced the lips and stomach of terrestrial folk.  I think a our friendship, founded with shared ale, shall endure henceforth.

Axell's Journey Typical barbarian
Samson Journal entry 2 I have discovered that Calus the dwarf is quite adept at locating hidden enemies.  He managed to discover a vicious ogre hiding in the cavern beyond the goblins.  He took a severe blow from the giant humanoid and deferred the defeating of the enemy to the rest of us.  Axell, our less civilized friend, dispatched the creature with a swing from his mighty battleaxe.   We ventured further into the cave where, using the skill that I had just learned from Calus, I uncovered a very large group of hidden goblins.  Some of these annoying little fellows ran off to gather more of their brethren.  In the meantime, I laid a trap for those that would return by greasing the back entrance to the room.  I was hoping to impress the grey elf with my casting prowess, but alas he appeared to pay little mind.  Meanwhile, Dar, Axell, and Gerard began dispatching the goblins that remained in the room.  I tried to be of assistance, but I lack the skill that these fine warriors possess.  Trying to prove my usefulness merely annoyed them so I deferred to their tactical judgement.  Still, the trap I laid worked nicely as multiple goblins running back into the room slid into perfect position for the valiant knights to dispatch. Further investigation led us to the discovery of a door.  Not to be deterred, Axell displayed his mighty strength by forcing the door open in a marvelous spectacle that allowed us to confront, what appeared to be the leader of these goblins.  I stayed back to watch and learn some new combat techniques.  A loud, blood curdling scream caught my attention.  I looked to see poor Axell writhing in pain as one of the goblins mercilessly stung the barbarian in his manhood with a spear and neutered him in one blow.  Any normal man would have retired from combat at this point, but not Axell.  He continued to swing wildly, clearly in pain.  This display of bravado clearly disoriented the goblins as they began attacking and killing one another, clearly in fear of the wild man.  Taking advantage of the confusion, Dar, Gerard, and company were easily able to eliminate the remaining host of enemies. Fortunately, Gerard was able to make Axell whole again with his healing magic. I am most definitely in good company with this group of adventurers.

It is strange to me that there are so many evil creatures. the great clerics tell stories of true evil but i never seen one.. until now. it scares me! i am afraid becouse i am so anger at them and i do bad things to them. The Barbarina warrior named Axell scares me too. he is vary strong and wants to kill. i want to make things alive... but i am killing a lot. i must be bad.  Brella seeing the anguish on Gerard's face, tries to soothe his conscience by telling him by killing the creatures in these caves he is doing good for that is less evil in the world to hurt good people weaker than him. Corrine does not blame him for his deeds but instead is happy to have one so strong and caring in her service.

You're really good at this journal thing Clifford
I've had practice
I want to hear that  '' Fak yu '' goblin thing again XD
only if they make their morale check you might
Samson Journal entry 3 We decided to rest after the battles we faced during the day.  The night went well until Dar discovered a diminutive sprite of a fellow rifling through his pack.  The small gentleman, a halfling that referred to himself as Dart, twisted a fabulous yarn about being stuck in the caverns sneaking around and stealing food.  Apparently he was stranded when the group he traveled with either were killed or ran off.  Dart assured us he was just looking for something edible, anything was better than the "food" he was absconding off with from the goblinoids.  After a brief discussion we allowed Dart to join the group if he could help us find the occasional trap and unlock any door that we needed to open.  Also during this time another gentleman was discovered.  A man of the old faith by the name of Barish.  I'm not sure how he came to be with us, we just took him in as part of the group with no discussion.  I suspect his druidic charm took a hold of us.  No matter, he proved to be an asset during combat.   The next day brought us into contact with more denizens of the cave we were exploring.  Hobgoblins were attacking in droves.  Axell, Dar, Calus and Tyvalen were once again crucial in defeating these adversaries.  I was able to help dispatch the hobgoblin leader with a well placed grease spell that was subsequently set ablaze by a member of our band.  We also managed to capture a female hobgoblin for interrogation.  Unfortunately the maiden is unable to speak any languages known by Reginald or myself.  Perhaps later we can see if any of the others are able to communicate with her. Oh, I almost forgot.  I discovered a strange looking ebony rod amongst a pile of fire wood. I have place the rod in my backpack for later examination.
Reginald looks up from his book to find no one around him. Camp was broken, there wasn't a raid or anything, they just left his ass. So after memorizing his spells he went off to find his group. He remembered them wanting to go up the stairs. Upon arriving he noticed the bodies. He sighed to himself thinking, that barbarian is stronger than he has a right to be, as he walks through the bisected corps of a hobgoblin. Passing the bodies in the make shift guard-room he moved into what looks to be the hobgobliin's feast hall, again full of bodies. How the hell did he miss this? I mean the will they won't they tension was a nail biting read but really? Oh well, at least they aren't dead, yet.
lets see for our campaign calendar i will say that you started on the 16th day of Felmont and about 2 weeks has passed making the current game date the 2nd day of Fyrmont. Each month has 4 weeks of 7 days for a total of 28 days each month
from Dar a lot more killing left. We must cleanse these caves of their malevolent taint so that the good people may be free of the influence of the evil priesthood filth. Let us work coherently in an organized manor as a military unit to exercise this evil taint. Let our warriors with their marshal prowess and heavy armor charge forth first assailing the enemy with their mighty blows, while our shifty kin move to turn the tables on the treacherous, and all the while our ranged experts rain death upon the vile. Let us strike quickly as the lioness upon the gazelle, and as many times as a unified group to bring down the greater prey, as the wolf pack brings down a bear. We must not be like the buzzards, franticly circling for the scrapes of another's kill, but we be brave, as the mongoose attacks the larger, venous serpent. Every clan of evil we dispatch spares innocent lives! We must make haste, lest the vile corruption spreads and overflows from this canyon wiping away all in its path, like the river in flood rains. Let us make haste with efficiency, so we may be like a scalpel: cutting away the corrupt filth that plagues these lands.
Samson Journal entry 4 None of the party members were able to speak with the female hobgoblin.  A decision was made to escort her from the caverns and tell her to move on.  Some objected to this plan, but cooler heads prevailed.  I would have preferred to have her travel with us and teach her to adapt to life with humans and demihumans.  The others did not see a benefit to this so the compromise was to make her go her own way.   Continuing through the complex we encountered more hobgoblins.  Being without spells I entered the fray and managed to clobber one of the enemy upon the head.  I'm sure that my success was due to the blessing from Gerard's patron deity.   Further into the caverns we came across a grotesque scene.  Two very large hobgoblins were torturing a group of humans, a gnoll, and an Orc.  After dispatching the jailers we released the prisoners.  We were able to provide comfort to all of them.  Two of the men decided to join us on our travels.  A man and a woman, caravan traders, would not join us.  They were not proficient in the art of combat. The Orc, surprisingly, also joined with us. Although I must report he gave his life to defend my companions.  Dar, the ranger, released the gnoll, armed him and challenged him to single combat.  I did not approve of this action, but it seemed nothing could quell the ire that Dar had for this creature.  I think it was all he could do to not kill it while it was bound in chains. I stayed back protecting the man and woman while the others went forth to clear a final room.  I learned from them that a priest of Leptar was in a higher level of the catacombs.  I promised to see the two back to the keep and when the others returned they agreed.   We made it back to the keep unscathed.  The merchants gifted me a beautiful dagger.  Unfortunately due to my beliefs I could not use such a fine weapon.  I asked their permission to bestow it to Reginald.  He seemed humbled that I would think of him first.  It is hard to humble an elf, especially one of the grey elves.   I managed bed to find out what the black stick was that we had found among the fire wood.  It seems that it is a wand of paralyzation.  I will now have a bit more of an effect in combat.  It will be good to feel as if I am holding up my own weight within the group.
game time...Mid-day 2nd day of Fyrmont
Alas Samson, as you protected the man and woman, you missed a very funny thing happen. As we moved down the last hall, we approached a door. The orc, who was leading, stopped and looked back at the party. He seemed confused what to do. Our noble Barbarian, seeing the orc hesitate, rushed to crash through the door.  He had been in the process of insulting the ancestors of the captive orc. Axell crashed head first into the door, which did not budge. He, our poor Barbarian, took a unsteady step backwards and dropped to the ground, unconscious. The orc began the laugh, but was told to be silent and try the door handle. The door swung open with a rusty screech, exposing a room full of enemies. Male and female hobgoblins rushed to protect their young. The party rushed forth, stepping over Axells prone body. He was eventually slapped awake, but in his dizzy state, missed more attacks then he hit. Fortunately, our mage was able to put most of the hobgoblins to sleep, definitely saving many lives. The rest were quickly killed, with few injuries to us.
current time is Mid-day 4th day of Fyrmont
ok so the trip from Riessen-Uhr Keep to Lintz took 2 day and you the small band of heroes was accosted by 5 pertyons the current game day is 6th day of Fyrmont. You were able to get the items you had ordered previously and some new items..all of which are +1 in enchantment.
Samson Journal entry 5 Our party has decided to travel back to Lintz.  The group had previously purchased items for manufacture before I had joined them.  They wished to retrieve the items before we continued on our way.  I had objected, fearing that the enemy might bolster their forces while we were gone.  Alas, I was out voted.   On our way we were beset upon by a group of five Peryton, a most foul beast that feeds on the hearts of humans. It has the head of a stag and the wings of a vulture.  The creatures flew down on us and closed before Dar had an option to turn his bow upon them.  Dar took a solid hit from one of the Peryton.  This was of great concern to me.  I decided to use the wand we had found with the goblins.  I managed to paralyze one attacking our guardsmen, then the one that attacked Dar.  Two others were downed by our members.  Dar tackled the final Peryton after Gerard issued some justice from his war hammer. The Peryton bucked and kicked trying to throw off Dar.  However, Dar would not be put down.  In a rush to assist, I sent forth a stream of magical colors that knocked the creature unconscious. I inadvertently caused Barish and Dar to fall unconscious as well.   (more to come, I'll edit the post.  right now I'm listening to the presidential debate and it's throwing off my mojo)
Current Game Time: Noon Gromdain 9th day of Fyrmont
Well that was, unsettling. How that man new of the weapon I was designing in my own is one then, but he knew what all of us wanted and had already made or had ready said items. He told us that he was in the market for the hides of each of the chromatic dragons, obviously for some yet unknown to me casting, and would be handsomely rewarded. All this talk of dragons had me quite on edge, quite reasonable I think having already faced a dragon, as I nearly jumped out of my skin at the sound of flapping from above. Looking up I see 5, I believe, flying quadrupeds. Only 100 feet above I advised caution, as they had not acted aggressively we should do likewise. We pass them by and march through the fortress into the wilds to camp as we decided we did not need the normal amenities of a warm bed, good food, a bath, a nice book, pillows..... That aside while we were traveling we stumbled upon an orc raiding party. What ensued was a comedy of errors, if one can call anything in a fight to the death funny. The fighters in the group engage the orcs in the front line allowing me to buff and take care of the second ranks, one orc even had the balls, let alone the intelligence, to wake up one of his companions from a spell I personally cast. Another round of sleep was enough for the back ranks but then I noticed something about the front ranks. It had been over two minutes of fighting and not one of the orcs had been felled by melee. Our ranged Dar was as deadly as ever but our frontline while not being able to be hit, were also unable to hit. The worst was at the kobald cave where Gerald, while trying to kill a kobald in front of himself, soon found his weapon embedded in the wall behind him but a few inches from Axell's head. Had a good chuckle at my self as I went to hurl my magical daggers to find them twirling in front of me like some circus act. Speaking of Axell, he took spears to both of his knees today. Both! That man has had more serious injuries than anyone else I know, and the scary thing is it looked to me that he could still take far worse that what he has.  During the final fight with the kobalds our druid friend Barish hit them with a wonderfully placed Bane spell. If you thought that kobalds were crap at hitting before, they could barely hit anything now. Except Axell, they hit him in the the knee as before mentioned. All in all I can't wait to head to the upper caves, but I am most intrigued at the cave the hobgoblin name, forsaken, beholding the Eater of Man. We must see what this cave holds for us tomorrow.
These are great reads haha I have been laughing at some of this stuff literally out loud.
BEE-DOO-BEEP at the tone the current game time will be dusk on the 9th day of Fyrmont AF1000  BONG
Did something happen to Axell after I've left ?

I'm asking that becasue I got spears to my knees last time XD
you are alive and well from my understanding. One of the NPC's dropped but we got him back up.
ok it has been a while since i posted something about game time. so here it is. even though over two months of real time has passed since the last time post in game time it is the 8th hour (out of 24) of Loshdian the 13th of Fyrmont (roughly our August) AF1000. the
i don't want to delete this thread, so can we start posting character povs of the sessions if not for recap purposes then to let players keep up to date in case they have to miss a session
Sure. I'm down for that :)
Samson journal entry 6 I have been neglecting my journal as of late.  So much has happened since my last entry.  I was nearly poisoned to death by the kiss of a medusa.  Fortunately, I was saved by my matron.  It seems in this world she goes by the name Djae.  I feel less alone her because of that.  We have also lost one of our traveling companions.  The priest, Gerard, has vanished.  I am not sure what happened to him, but the others do not seem concerned by his disappearance.  Maybe they are accustomed to these types of losses.  The weird coming and going of members of our group is quite unsettling to me, however.  I have maintained a brave visage.  Perhaps it is common occurrence here. Currently we are exploring a castle that seems to be in some sort of time dilation.  A red glow surrounds the place and anything that passes through it withers and dies.  We are trapped her until we solve the mystery.  We are looking for a ruby which may be at the heart of the problem.  Perhaps it is a curse of a deity.  I only posit this because we were beckoned by a deity to investigate in the first place.  Messing in the affairs of the divine is never a good thing.  We need to be extra cautious here. We have picked up two more companions.  A warrior by the name of Alexis and a dwarf cleric.  I feel bad that I have forgotten his name but I'm sure it will come to me.   Our exploration of the castle has yielded some interesting finds.  Most of the occupants have been turned to stone.  A potion of flesh to stone would not turn them back.  Yet another clue this may be a divine curse.   Goblinoid creatures and animals seem unaffected by the curse.  Humans and Demi-humans that have entered after the fact also seem unaffected by the curse.  At least one human, a guard named Travis, also was unaffected.  It is not known if he arrived after the curse took place or not.  He was mad however, and unable to assist us with answers.   A key key to lifting the curse seems to be a ruby sword and a dragon.  We may have found the dragon, but are uncertain.  The sword eludes us presently.

Alexis' Journal. First entry. I've decided to keep a journal as I'm not sure what's going on here, I don't remember how I got here and this could come in handy if I lose any more of my memory. I was finally on my way out of Widdershin after paying off my debt to Barash, that asshole doesn't know about all the extra coin I took from having Rethen bet big on my last fight and he never will, I know that man will keep my secret, when I just sort of blacked out. I don't know what happened but from what I've just learned it appears to be some sort of divine intervention. I've been teleported here, to this castle, to aid in a divine quest. At least this is what I'm told by my new companions. I guess I can't complain, I was only going to make a living as a sell-sword wherever I ended up anyway, after all fighting is all I know. I just hope these are good people I'm lending my talents to. They certainly seem to be, so far anyway, and talented too, one of them is an archer who never misses, and whose arrows hit like ballista bolts. I'm writing this straight after coming out of a fight with some winged monsters I'm told are called 'stirges', one of the bastards attached itself to my back and was sucking my blood. Dar, that's the archer, shot the thing right out from under me as I flipped onto my back to crush it. This was the third fight I've had in here in a matter of less than an hour, the first two were not half as hard though, some goblins and some kobolds were easy work for this group. I think I impressed my new companions as my first strike I skewered 2 kobolds on one spear, it was something that would have had the arena crowd singing my name. We also ran into some hobgoblins but the Cleric, I forget his name as I write this put them to sleep with a divine spell and my companions slit their throats. I'm keeping this short for now as we must keep moving as our quest is of utmost importance, apparently. What do I care really, I'm killing things for a greater purpose, beats doing it for that scumbag in the arena. I will write more when I get a chance.
Why have those two become such fast comrades? Why do I find myself trusting them with my back even though we have just met. Even though the fact is that every humanoid in this castle is either evil and not petrified or was good and was. Oh well, she has only let us down once, that Cameron sure was a mistake. So here we are. A human gladiator with biceps as big as my leg and a Dwarven fighter in touch with the gods now join our ranks. The day was not to eventful. We decided to back track as we are still missing two out of the three items the cleric wrote to us about. I have the Dragon statue but we are short one musical instrument and a ruby blade. We went back to the main gate and took the right path this time. Was a bit nostalgic seeing those slain in our wake, was a nice reminder that evil shouldn't feel safe as long as there are those who will fight them.  Fought some kobalds and goblins, like I said, uneventful. The real threat came in the form of sturges. We made our way to a sort of cave slash spring. Opened the door to it and the blasted creatures nailed me before I could get a spell off, a most unusual thing for me not to go before the enemy but I suppose I do deserve it being in front. And what is our reward for ridding the world of these creatures. An eight foot long spitting cobra, I shit you not. After that I grabbed myself some soap and towels, when the good guys need a win. I'ma put this down now and take a nice relaxing bath. What's the worst that could happen.
Samson Journal entry 7 We have found a second dragon statue.  We had to battle the most powerful zombies I have ever faced in order to retrieve it.  I swear those zombies had some form of magical protection.  None of our weapons were able to hit them except for the arrows of Dar.  I will have to speak to him about whatever magic he employs to strike as furiously as he does.  I think we are one step closer to ridding this place of whatever evil has its hold upon it.
Alexis' Journal. Second entry. So we've made camp for the night on the first floor of this castle. It seems we've cleared out downstairs fighting off some nasty zombies and finding another dragon statue. We also found a magical harp and spoke to the ghost of it's owner. I really don't understand any of this but I trust the mages here know what to do with them. We stumbled upon two thieves trying to rob the place in the wizard of the castles personal quarters, they're tied up in the corner of the room as I write this. I'm not sure I feel great about that but again, I have to trust the party, I'm just here to kill things.
ok..i have a basic game calendar that i am using to track game time and with the latest downtime added in we have past our 1st game month. We started the campaign on the game date of Gromdain, 16th day of Felmont (our July 16th) and the current game date is Soladain, the 21st day of Fyrmont. game year is 1000AF (After Founding)

mmmm adventuring sure is different from being a cat burglar, need to work on a wider set of skills for one and there is so much combat, normally I would avoid it completely but these people I am with just rush in.   They sure are a strange group but fun, at least i know I have some big people to hide behind :) I do believe Brandobaris, The Irrepressible Scamp is much more pleased with me adventuring around and discovering lost treasures.
As told by Yendeth: Where are we? and how did we get here? Questions that force us to seek answers. The last thing I remember is a beautiful in a red blouse whispering "My Lord Arik sends His regards and His regrets." With that she kissed my cheek. When we came to, we were somewhere familiar yet unfamiliar. We awoke in an abandoned hut in the middle of a very hot and humid jungle. I have felt air like this several times before during my days as a - just say - a hearty privateer. Dar went hunting and came back with two of the strangest companions I have ever saw. Dwarves. And while he was away I took inventory of our situation. All of our gear is gone: weapons, armor, coin, all gone. We were in homespun clothes of the roughest linen which helps with the heat and it seems that that scamp of a halfling was busy for there were some basic supplies for use. Daggers unlike any I have ever saw, an unstrung bow stave which Dar claimed as his own, and some other bits and pieces, no armor though After we met the Dwarves, the unkempt one that was hard to understand led us to his village, but on the way we were attacked by the strangest spider that I ever saw (see pic included) The thing managed to attack the unkempt dwarf and I think I was still under the effects of whatever afflicted us because I could have sworn that I saw Dar miss and Dar never misses. Not once have I ever saw that man miss when he has a bow in hand. But my hand to the heavens he missed this giant whatever it was. (to be continued)
