Interested in growing as a roll20 dm.

I currently have a Pathfinder campaign written up and want to break it out into the lfg and look for some solid players except i haven't the slightest about the roll20 flow. I've been applying for a few months now on getting into a game so i can atleast see another person do it. I usually am pretty fine with trial and error but the ability for players to be consistent seems flaky at best if you start out bad and i understand that players might not want to go through the 'growing pains' of me learning and understanding the overall concepts and mechanics of the application. SO if any dm's out there wouldn't mind giving me a run down or some sort of slot in a game or just a 'from my experience' chat let me know. I'd really prefer to do it over skype or in a session rather than playing thread tag and continuously checking the forums. Thank you very much for your time!

Well have you ever conducted a RP gaming session in VoIP and dice servers before? I assume you have GM'd sessions in hardspace in your living room or dining room, right?
What are you needing help with, specifically? If you'd like to see how two different GMs handle playing a Pathfinder session with the same characters in the same world, you might like to watch The Sunday Knights, which we broadcast live every Sunday night at 7pm Central: The Sunday Knights on Twitch.TV If you don't want to wait that long, you can see our previous sessions (well, some of them at least!) by clicking the VIDEOS button on the upper right (above the chat box). Warning: We've had some technical problems, so they're not the best quality, but if you want background they're where to find it. Our most recent episode is our best so far; the official GM, Rog, runs for the first couple hours then I take over for the last couple hours. I'll also be running next week's episode. You can view this episode directly HERE. On the other hand, if that's not enough, I'm more than willing to help show you the ropes regarding Roll20's interface and such. I'm no expert, but I've got enough knowledge to get you started with making maps, setting up character sheets, building simple macros, and the like. I'm not sure what time zone you're in, or what times you're available, but let me know and we can try to work something out. Additionally, I'm not expert in Pathfinder or any other 'modern' game systems, but I've been playing D&D and various other RPGs, as well as my own home-brew system, for a long long loooong time, and like to think I've got some good advice for GMs. So if that's the kind of help you're looking for, let me know as well. On the gripping hand, I've kinda been wanting to do a combination of the above... where I get a group of people together, in Roll20 and Skype, and make a podcast where I show everyone the basics of how to use Roll20 and then run a simple one-shot adventure. The problem here would be getting 3-4 people to join up at the same time, and all using Skype flawlessly, and all willing to be livestreamed as well as having their actions recorded for posterity. I'm not sure whether the problem would be getting that many people together, or getting that few together, as yours isn't the first listing like this I've seen! Lemme know a bit more about what you're looking for, and we'll go from there. -Phnord, aka Sir Desmond
I've done everything from playing over a Voip like Ventrilo with ZERO graphics and describing everything with excruciating detail to ensure everyones on the same page. Heavy rp oriented sessions, minimal rp sessions, dungeon crawl. Currently i play with a group on Thursdays with all my friends back in Vegas and they point a webcam at the table and stream me the game over skype haha. I spent alot of effort working with maptools but its not as easily available or user friendly as roll20 system. So now I'm actually working on learning the roll 20 but I'm more of a visual learner and wish to see the general play style in action.
There's lots of YouTube videos of Roll20 games and tutorials. Browse around there, I'm sure you'll get a good idea of how Roll20 works and what game sessions are like.
Every group varies in style. I run Traveller with Skype, but all i use roll20 for is the occasional roll or to display a star system map or a specific picture of some place the characters see. The rest of it is narration, and I don't use a tactical map, it's 90% description via voice, sometimes I type into the text box if there is loot or something, so I can extract it from the log later for reference.
