How to be a good roleplayer?

Looking for advice from experienced roleplayers on how to become a better roleplayer? How did you improve over the years and what are the main points you learned? I come from a text roleplay background and I am finding it hard to adapt to voice (with or without video) as I haven't ever acted before, and coming up with a quick response.
This thread is off topic and will probably be closed soon, but I have been playing RPGs for 40 years and there is no need to "Role Play". There is no acting required, not even a funny voice. Just decide how your character would act in certain situations and then do that.
