season 5 episode 5 -- two titans are better than one! Undertow's Titan advances up-river through the orc homelands of Maruk Dar-- Feng takes the opportunity to reconnect with his peole, that have already evacuated northward since the titan's movement is nearly impossible to miss. Many of the gods and spirits revered in the orc tribe culture, Feng now realizes, are call-backs to the titans, and the titan's cyclopsoid appearance explains the blinding of one eye many of the orc shamans perform. Faeris and Gang scry and teleport themselves to the Broken Stone titan and survey the damage-- a mithril/adamantium magitec device lay strewn about with 3 corpses-- Krost - The chief shaman of Marak Dur Kero LastHand - A gatekeeper Druid Jar Withers - A gatekeeper artificer ... karl said ther ewere FOUR present when he went into the kiling spree, but the fourth is not apparent at all. The team raises the three corpses back to working condition to help with repairing the artificer's magitec, and finishing the ritual to raise the titan. Here's the process... The magitec creates an amplified magic circle that fits around the Titan's Pituitary gland. The shaman communes with nature while the druid planar binds the titan's spirit inside the magic circle space within the pituitary then they cap it off with a banishing to shunt the titan's spirit out of its body. the magitec circle perpetuates the banishment so that it can last as long a s needed-- forever if they have to-- and then the pituitary gland acts as a space someone Else can fil in for the titan's spirit to gain control of the titan. then it's a matter of shaking off the terrain, standing up and roaming about. Gang volunteers and now the team has two titans to fight the devourer with anywhere from 9 to 57 hours left til The Devourer rises to destroy the world. a few points of interest that weren't focused on in game... 1. why was a massive magic circle that took a month to construct needed for FriendFell / Kashakant... but only a relatively simple device needed for Broken Stone and possibly others? The magic circle originally created for kashakant and friendfell was a Binding Circle used in summoning magic. The Demon-Summoning Dwarf originally planned to have a demon possess the titan-- he wanted to contain the creature in case control was an issue. The demons took over and repurposed the circle to pump sacrificed souls into strengthening the possession attempt. Bishop used that completed circle and spell energy to suppress the titan's spirit for Undertow to take control uncontested. Without the magic circle, there is no suppressing effect, so the spirit has to be dealt with directly... the gatekeepers' plan deals with that problem directly.. but it is worth noting that the magic circle kept the titan's spirit dormant during the awakening process, while the gatekeepers' method forcefully awakens the spirit then imprisons it. Far more efficient, but potentially bad news if/when then banishment ends. 2. Krost the Shaman is not happy that Gang took control of the Titan. His blinded eye seems to stare into the adventuring team as he is basically relegated to a support position as opposed to being a big part of raising what is effectively a god to his cult of spirit-speakers. He's probably like 7th maybe 10th level ... and he did get killed before, raised by Faeris... so he is well aware he IS a side support character in a bigger adventure out of his depths.. but he's still sour grapes over it. the gatekeepers, Jar and Kero, are perfectly content with following Faeris' lead on the issue... the team's solution has been far better than what the gatekeepers were able to come up with on their own so far. They're happy to follow the team's lead until something horrible goes awry. 2/3 to level 20 15 hours spent in game 2 titans under control The Devourer rises anywhere from 9 to 57 hours from now.
