LFG Birthright Campaign

I really haven't seen one of these ever, but I am looking for a group who either want to play, or a DM /and/ a group to run/play a Birthright game. I really, desperately love the game and it's been years since I've seen a good gaming group for this (as in 1990's) outside of PBeMs.

Aw, man! Birthright was an awesome campaign setting. I've got nearly all the books that were published for it. I'm in Pacific Daylight Time (GMT-7) so depending on time, I'd be interested. /Matt

If a GM randomly pops out of the internet, this seems like a really interesting campaign setting to play in and I'd be interested.

Jakob and Simon, OK, what time zone are you folks in? Like I said, I'm in Pacific (GMT-7).  If you are interested, I'll run a one-shot but I'm not sure about using a D20 system and I'd have to read up on the setting again. /Matt

CST(-5 I believe?), I'm free on any evening that isn't friday or thursday. What would you use if not a d20 system?

Same as Simon G (CST). I have a weird availability, but pretty much come up with a time and I'd be interested.

Possibly using Savage Worlds. There's a  SW conversion on the  Birthright Forums . Or perhaps  Fate (as outlined in Birthright for Other Systems thread) . /Matt

Not quite what I'm looking for to be honest. I want a Birthright Campaign, using an actual D&D system. I've tried Savage Worlds and its very gritty and unclean. As for Fate, if I was looking for something like that, I'd write myself a novel.

I'd be open to using fate though not savage worlds(the way it handles the bennies and shaken just doesn't gel with me), though I agree with Jakob that I would prefer using an actual D&D system even if it's 5e instead of AD&D for the sake of simplicity.

Aw, you guys are killing me. I don't think I can relearn 2nd edition after trying so hard to forget it.  How would you feel about Microlite20 with the Birthright stuff added in? Or possibly a hacked down True20? Labyrinth Lord? Some other OSR? Feats and Attacks of Opportunity may be too much for me. /Matt

Any of those work for me, i've been looking to try some osr for a while so maybe labyrinth lord(with the advanced companion isn't that really close to AD&D?) or lamentations of the flame princess? Whichever Jakob prefers. sorry for derailing your first choices for systems though!  I'm hoping a 3rd person appears out of somewhere soon so that we get a real smallish sized party going.

Aarrgghhh! I was just reminded today that I promised a friend I'd run a 5e game for her, her friend and his teenage son, so I guess I have to learn how to play 5e anyways. Does 5e have AoOs or are we free of that? *grumble* *grumble* *grumble* *sigh* I'll look on Birthright.net for a 5e conversion and see what I can come up with. Patience with respect to GMing 5e is appreciated! /Matt

It still has attacks of opportunity, what don't you like about them? It looks like birthright.net has 3 different 5e conversion with minor differences in between them. edit: Though I should mention- in 5e the only thing that provokes Opportunity Attacks is moving out of someone's reach

Eh, bad experience with AoO back in the 3.x days but I'll get over it. I'm looking at the Birthright 5e conversions and will figure out which one I will use. /Matt

If anyone gets up to AD&D 2nd Edition, the original system of Birthright, let me know. I'd be interested, mainly as a player I think. Central USA time, available afternoons or evenings or night on possibly Sunday / Monday, or on Wednesday night.

Simon, Jakob and (possibly) Gold, I hope to set up a time for the one-shot* in September so I'll set up a Game page and privately PM you the link. I'll put a Calendar for September in the game space so we can coordinate times and availability. Next is more setting details and character creation. Let me read up on the setting a bit more and I'll post those details in the Game page so you can make up some characters. We'll use the forum to develop characters as well.
