[GUMSHOE] Investigative Horror

With the Halloween season approaching, I've been craving more strongly a tabletop horror experience. The Netflix series "Stranger Things" is definitely to blame as well. I'm looking to run one of Pelgrane Press' GUMSHOE games, which uses a rules light system focusing on finding clues and interacting with GM characters as well as drastic, unforgiving action rules. Games I'd like to run include Fear Itself, The Esoterrorists or Trail of Cthulhu. Table size will be four players. That's a hard limit. My schedule is flexible and I'm willing to run sessions that range from two to four hours long. The games can either be one-shots or extended sessions. These games will include graphic violence and scenes of general horror but I am not interested in transgressive or taboo themes. If you have concerns, please contact me and I'll make sure the story doesn't contain themes that might be personally triggering.

I would love to play a horror/investigation game. I'm working on one as well using the All Flesh Must Be Eaten rules. It's not a zombie apocalypse survival game though; I just like the simple D10 rules of AFMBE. If you want a player, I'm down, and if you want to make this into a group or something, I'd love to run a one-shot spanning a couple sessions as well.
Would love to try and play this game.  Trying to find a GUMSHOE (or any version using this system) game in my time slot.  If you are available anytime after 6pm pst M-Th or Saturday at anytime, you have me as a player. My background is CoC, Shadowrun, and SW systems.  Have a one shot in mind using the Night Black Agent system if we can get enough players.
I would be interested in playing. I've never played GUMSHOE before but I am big fan of Feng Shui which was also created by Robin Laws.  I am in EST can usually do weekdays 9AM - 5PM and usually have 3-4 evenings off a week, but my schedule is a little weird from week to week. I am also happy to play late nights most any night (anything between 11:30PM-4AM). With enough heads up it is pretty easy for me to shift my schedule around to make a game work.
I would love love LOVE to join. I've only gotten to play CoC once or twice and honestly I'm a bigger fan of the GUMSHOE system regardless. I'm free Mondays and Tuesdays, around the afternoon works best for me (like latest 5pm EST) but I'm flexible.
AWESOME! I'm just a little busy at the moment so this response confirming that I haven't abandoned this thread will have to do in lieu of a comprehensive reply, which you can expect by Thursday. I'll definitely have a poll in regards to the specific setting of the game as well as nailing scheduling. Prepare for the spoops!
I have been running a Trial of Cthulhu mini campaign that is about to end, and would love to see how other people run ToC/Esoterrorists/Night's Black Agents. My schedule has a moderate amount of flexibility during the day, but Monday thru Thursday evenings are usually busy. Thursday is just bad for me in general. MB
This sounds cool, never played Gumshoe, but this sounds like something fun.
Here's the final results of the survey, edited to omit which responses belonged to who. As you can see, there is no unanimous outcome regarding which game should be played and no clear answer as to when, either. I had hoped the survey would solve the problem of six players bidding for a seat at a table of four, but alas, it was unhelpful in that regard. So now there are two options. A) Two players can graciously bow out of this season's GUMSHOE game. B) I can run two shortened games back to back. Or the third option, which would be for someone else to run one of these games at the same time as me, thereby allowing me to join as a player. It goes without saying that players who opt to bow out will be reserved seating if I continue to run GUMSHOE past Halloween. I hope to, but I make no promises. I would like to have a date for the first session established by next Friday, hopefully for the following week. In regards to what day of the week and time of the day would work best, these are the potential games that will be the most convenient, requiring no scheduling in advance. Again, I cannot overstate that these are POTENTIAL and you are welcome to comment on what you can work with. Monday 4 PM to 7 PM Cory L - Fear Itself Dan P - Fear Itself Michael B - The Esoterrorists Anthony B - Trail of Cthulhu Monday 7 PM to 10 PM Cory L - Fear Itself Dan P - Fear Itself Dorlar - The Esoterrorists Anthony B - Trail of Cthulhu Saturday 7 PM to 10 PM Cory L - Fear Itself Seraph - Trail of Cthulhu Michael B - The Esoterrorists Anthony B - Trail of Cthulhu
Eh, I'll make it easier. I'm new to all three systems, I'm likely going to start a new job in a couple weeks so god knows what THAT will do to my availability, and I'm working on a Roll20 project anyway. I'll back out.
Thanks Anthony. Hopefully the new gig goes well, I hope we get to do smelling together in the future. The irony is I just finished an interview for a potential new gig this morning. Don't think I got it but the upside is I won't have to worry about scheduling conflicts, if there was going to be any. If anyone else has potential concerns about scheduling or maybe feels like waiting out this season of GUMSHOE, I'd be very grateful not to have to ask someone to step away.
