RP: A Birds Eye View

Zeech was sitting in one of the dark corner of the Tipsy Mermaid feeling edgy while drowning himself in a cup of ale. After returning from his failed mission the day before he had been moping in the inn. The awfully cheery Gabriella Goodoven put a pie on the table infront of Zeech telling him to stop moping in the corner alone. Zeech and Gabby had been aquainted before since they both are patrons at the inn. Seeing her reminded him of what always would entertain him. "Hey Gabby didn't you say that you have a restaurant in the upper city?" Zeech asked with a sadend face but this time he was acting instead of genuinely being sad. She nodded but she probably was not gullable enough to fall for Zeech's act but curious enough to let him keep talking. "I would love to see it and eat there, but sadly I'm not allowed up there." He sighed audibly, almost obnoxiosly. "Maybe you could take me some time. It would probably bring my spirits up." He looked down into his mug and noticed it was empty and so he let out another loud sigh.
Gabbi would tilt her head at this looking at both the pie and then Zeech "Well I would be happy to escort you through the gate of the upper city...yet be warned that you would be under careful watch by the guards watching your every move...though I'm sure you wouldn't do anything to tarnish my reputation so you should be fine!" Gabbi would say giving a tiny laugh for the little halfling before smiling and looking to Zeech "But tell me really what is it that you really want seek in the upper city...the luxurious lifestyle...the women?.....men??" Gabbi would say with a chippy giggle obviously enjoying herself a bit too much.

Zeech would grin widely."Well, I'm sure we will have fun you and I. As for my reasons, the life of a Noble never quite suited me but I do enjoy the upper class', pleasantries and their parties." Zeech said as he stood up and turned his mug upside down signaling that he is ready to leave. "Nobles always have trinkets and little stuff that they don't seem to notice missing. But no need for worry for your reputation. I'm not a fool, enduring the wrath of one of the richest Halfling on Haven, I'm not dumb enough to do something as stupid as that. Besides, I do not intend to do anything that would be frowned upon today. I merely wish to observe the upper city and it's luxuries, and sit in a nice restaurant eating pie maybe." Even though Zeech doesn't seem like the most trustful person, he does seem to be talking honestly. Gabby picked up on this decides to throw Zeech a bone. Maybe it will be fun. Gabby agreed to escort Zeech to the Slice of Life so he could eat some of Gabby's delicious pie. But after that he would have to leave the upper city or risk being detained. Zeech assured Gabby that he would leave the upper city after he had been to her restaurant. And that he only wanted to see what the upper city had to offer and if it was worth working his way up to it. Zeech convinced Gabby to take the smith street so he could maybe see some true masters do their work. Zeech heard the clanking of metal but couldn't observe any master work as there wasn't that many smith's working at the time. Gabby directed Zeech towards her restaurant again and mentioned her co-owned store that was just around the corner. Zeech was intrigued and asked Gabby to show him this store. Zeech and Gabby arrive outside a building with a sign that read "The Compass" on that main sign there was a smaller sign attached that read "Apprentice Cartographer wanted. Training is willing to be provided. Apply within" Zeech took a second to think. Then he turned around and thanked Gabby for the favor but that he would be taking his leave as soon as he had finished his business inside this shop. Gabby was confused but said she would stay to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid. Zeech nodded and then opened the door and entered. It was a open shop, constructed with a very open floor plan; there where no walls partitionings on the bottom floor par one, which seemed to lead to the stock room. Barrels and crates of object acted in the place of shelves, with pieces of timber with parchment nailed to them detailing the prices. Lanterns hang of the walls, emitting a soft glow. "Hello? Anyone here?" he asked into silence. "I saw the sign outside and would like to begin a apprenticeship"

A man wearing loose, flowing robes walks out of the room, hair out of place and dust coating his clothes, he would look up, and then grin. "So, you're here to apply for the apprenticeship then? Well, come on then, I have a room upstairs where I have my map making kit, though I have yet to have an actual use for it due to me not having left the island." After a few minutes of navigating your way through the maze of boxes, he would lead you upstairs, into a room with empty parchment stuck to the walls, and bottles of ink with quills dotted over the table. "This is where we'll be working. I expect you to bring your own kit, because I am not supplying you with one. Oh, I'm Waershorn by the way" And for weeks, Waershorn would escort Zeech to and from the gates, teaching him how to make maps, to mark landmarks and to do it effectively. The parchment on the walls would detail his progress, and the last one he puts up is a detailed map of lower and upper Haven.
