Greetings folks

Hello, i'm Patrick. I will be playing as Barish the half-elf druid. A little about me, i'm a 47 y.o. male and live in Ohio. Been a big RPG fan forever. Had few tries at playing D&D in my youth, living in a small town, not many were interested. Played several MMOs to satisfy my interests. (had a terrible Evercrack addition, lol). Quite excited to get to play D&D again.  I'll definitely have many questions in game, I understand game mechanics, but alot of liitle things elude me. One quick question. Are spell components required. As some of my spells need a priest symbol, would I use a stick? LOL. Anyhow, a bit about Barish. He is the child of a male human and female elf. He knows nothing of his father and very little about his mother. What little he found out about her was sad and always tore as his heart. As relayed to him, she was wandering the forest, possibly to avoid the stigma of breeding with a human and producing a child. She came to a peaceful part of the forest and rested against a large, well-tended oak tree. Her birthing was difficult, she was of small stature and having her first child. Her distress was noticed by Dryads, who tended the tree she rested against. Upon seeing her in a pregnant state and struggling to give birth, they helped as best they could. The Dryads noticed she was in a weak state, possibly unable to fend for herself, while wandering the forest and being with child. She gave birth to Barish at sunset and was able to hold and look upon him for only a few moments, before passing away. The Dryads tried to save her, but they had to choose her or the infant. They decided to let the life cycle to continue to turn and chose the new life to preserve. They buried her near their oak tree, a reason Barish will occasionally return to visit. He would also perish before revealing this site, his birth place, mothers final resting spot and a home for many years and only returns alone. Not to mention to protect the only family he has ever know, the Dryads. Barish was raised by the Dryads until he could fend for himself. As he grew, they taught him to tend to the wounds and ills of the forest creatures. He would also tend to wounded travelers he encountered or heard of from a tribe of pixies that lived in the forest. He helped all, from mighty Paladins to dreadful Necromancers. Though after being attacked by a dark elf, he is hesitant to help those of evil intent. If someone was beyond saving, he would not hesitate to end their lives quickly and painlessly. As the years passed, he became restless, curious about the world outside the forest. After visiting the Dryads, to say his farewells and assure them he would return, to visit them and his mothers final resting place, he set off along a well used path. He has learned of a group of adventures seeking more companions and set out to meet them and offer his services.  Standing before you is a young half-elf, maybe 40 years old or so, glancing around anxiously. You can tell from his demeanor, hes not comfortable in places made by man. Not very tall, few inches over 5 foot and maybe 140 pounds or so. His hair is brown, tied in a ponytail, hanging midway down his back. Green piercing eyes, that as you gaze into them, you see wisdom far beyond his years. Dressing in leather armor, with a sling hanging from his belt and a spear in his right hand, looks ready to adventure.  Thanks alot to Mark W. for letting me join and all the help getting started. Peace to all, Patrick
spell components aren't required and as a druid your holy symbol would either be an oak leave or sprig or mistletoe (real or stylized).
too lazy to read :(
just like a barbarian lol
Dar happy to meet another uncomfortable in the comforts of city life, as he too was raised in the woods by his family, killed by filthy gnolls. Trusting rather in things made from nature, the bow, arrows, weapons made of tooth and claw. Dar too has a keen sense of animals, and they of him.
Hey I am from Ohio as well Patrick, I am from Worthington Ohio, went to college at BGSU, and now live in Idaho in a secluded town in the mountains.
