Numenera Question?

Hi working on a game I'm DMing with some friends on here. We are playing Numenera and using the Numenera (Tabbed) Sheet. So when someone is having to roll perception and they have a skill that says something along the lines of "Noncombat tasks involving vision, including perception, long-range sight, and seeing in dark or smoky areas." when I make them roll is this a +1 bonus, +1 asset, or do they check off the "Trained" bullet in the action macro in the sheet? Sorry it's a bit late and I'm doing some planning and seem to have forgotten how this works in tandem with this sheet? This is more  a game rules question than a sheet question but I included the sheet just in case?
If they have a perception based skill, then they would be trained by default. Which means a -1 to the level of the task. So if you say spotting an animal in the woods at 500 feet is level 5 difficulty, their trained skill would make it level 4.
Aight I wasn't too sure, so I'd just make them put it to trained then for the roll ya. Thanks :D
