I know there will likely be different answers, I imagine the core of the answers will be the same, but many will have personal interpretations of the varying nuances.... I want to hear your answers, please tell me how you define a "sandbox" style RPG or RPG Campaign. Please try and post your answer explaining your views, bonus points if you can do it without deriding another style. Comparing for making a point is often helpful, but please try and be cautious to be respoctful of other style when doing so. I'm an old school gamer.... and I have mostly played sequential style games/campaigns... and Iam having a hard time grasping what all the fuss is about "sandbox". Thanks for your answers and help!

Sandbox games are more flexible than a preplanned story. It allows your players to feel like what they're doing is making a real difference in game play. It also lets them decide to go where they want and act how they want.  To me, can quickly feel overwhelming to me if the DM doesn't have a line he wants us to follow. My favorite style of sandbox involves a "All paths lead to the plot" style of DMing.
