editing a character sheet

how do i, as a player, make changes to my character sheet. like level up after the game ended.
What kind of sheet are you using? If you are using the shaped character sheet you need to click the small pencil icon at the top right to edit your sheet. With the SRD Sheet you should be able to just change anything on it. Has you DM made the sheet for you i assume? Just ask him to show it to you in detail then, if you are new to roll20 ;)
how do i find out what kind of a character sheet i have?

Most game systems only have one sheet. The 5e Shaped sheet looks like  this , while the 5e OGL sheet looks like  this , and the 5e community contributed (Actoba) sheet looks like  this . If you're playing a different game you'll have to tell us which. However, generally, you simply change the values in the text boxes on the sheet. If you don't see the Character Sheet tab when you open your character's journal entry, then either you don't have control of the character (in which case you also won't see the Attributes & Abilities tab), or your GM didn't set a sheet for the campaign (in which case updating your character is simply a matter of editing the attributes in the Attributes & Abilities tab).
i filled out a character sheet on myth-weavers and sent it to my dm, could that pose a problem?

That's up to the DM.  ;-)  When I first started on roll20, we were using Myth Weavers.  If you want the "integrated" experience of roll20, you really need to use a sheet found here.  Perhaps your DM will transfer your character data to a roll20 sheet...
