Vrinn x Mara (1st of Calistril)

After Mara's impressive display of fire in the gardens of Vandiir Manor, Vrinn's eyebrow cocks slightly, looking between the brazier of fire and Mara, an impressed whistle being pushed from his lips. "So ye want t' get vengeance for ye Ma an' Da?" the half elf asks as he kneels in front of the halfling girl, short even for her race, and place his hand upon her shoulder "Have ye heard about Calistria, th' Goddess o' Lust, Trickery, an' o' course, Vengeance?" As he speaks, his free hand slips into one of his pockets, producing a symbol that depicts three daggers in a circle with their tips pointing outwards, a holy symbol of Calistria, and offers it (gently) to the young girl.
Mara stares up at Vrinn. "Yea. I want to get vengeance. I'm not so sure about the other stuff. Is your god still ok with that? If I only want one thing? Well, maybe more than one thing. I don't know. I just want to stop it all from happening again." Mara looks down and fidgets a bit. She looks up again and, seeing the proffered symbol, reaches out slowly to take it. "Thank you. Not just for this, but for allowing me to join you."
Ruffling her hair as he stands after she accepts the holy symbol, Vrinn motions towards one of the benches in the garden, offering her the seat. "Ye're weclome Mara. But more than one thing, huh?" he asks, his gaze roaming over her for a moment before he shakes his head, sitting down himself. "Aye, I'm sure she's fine with ye only wantin' th' one thing from her. Meself, I don't necessarily go fer th' Trickery stuff, but th' Lust an' Vengeance... Well, I have that covered" he says with a wink. "But ye, ye li'l fire starter, are more an' welcome to join us. We'll be takin' th' fight t' the giants, don't ye worry. An when we do, if ye can do what ye' just did then..." he indicates to the smouldering Brazier "...to th' giants faces, and gettin' payback fer yer Ma an' Da, well..." he lets his sentence trail off for a moment, his eyes glazing over slightly "Let's just say that I know from experience that th' Lady in th' Room rewards her followers well."
She rubs her arm a bit uncomfortably. "So, um, is there something I have to do to join? Like an initiation rite? To show devotion or something? I don't know how any of this works..." She toys with the symbol a bit. "Did you have to do anything? How did you... learn of her? Get started I guess?"
Tilting his head to the side, the rogue looks quizzically at Mara "Join? Err... Like I mean if ye wan't t' join the Calistrian clergy, then speakin' t' Anna would be yer best bet..." Vrinn mentions, gesturing towards the mansion "...But ye don't need t' be a clergyman t' be a follower" he explains, rubbing his smoothly shaved jawline. "I mean, I'm not a part o' th' clergy. I was kinda interested before, but then realised tha' it'd prolly be more hassle than it's worth. No, I'm just one of her lovers..." he pauses, a slight smirk crossing his face. "An' I guess ye' could say that's how I came into her bosom" he says with a knowing wink, the innuendo hanging in the air.
Mara turns bright red, and little floating fox fires pop into existence around her. "I. Um. Yea. Maybe I should go speak to Anna. Thank you." She turns to scurry away but stops short when she sees the miniature fireballs. "Oh no, why does that keep happening? Damn it..." She takes a moment, concentrating, and one by one each of the little flames snuff out.  Turning back to Vrinn, no longer blushing, she raises a hand nervously to her mouth. "I'm real sorry about that. I, um, well I may not be as in control of my powers as I may have said... That's ok? I can still come with you? I promise, I only accidentally do stuff like that when I'm embarrassed or angry or something. It won't happen again, I'm so sorry." She worries at a nail, but seems to be concentrating to prevent any additional fires from starting.
Watching as the small glowing orbs wink in and out of existance, Vrinn merely chuckles "Lass, as long as ye don't burn down me house..." he says, once again gesturing at the mansion "Steal, misbehave, treat th' girls bad, or otherwise cause a general nuisance, then it's fine" he explains before a wry smirk forms across his face. "But what do ye have t' be embarrassed about? I didn't make ye angry, did I?" his tone of voice playful, if his eyes betray his somewhat mischievous demeanour.
Seeming to remain focused on maintaining control, Mara lets out a little laugh. "Oh no, I'm certainly not angry, I just. Well, I grew up in a household where we didn't talk about... You know. Those... Things..." She makes a kind of vague gesturing motion. "I guess I'm just not used to hearing it. Um. So if I don't want to become a priest of Calistria, I just want to be a follower. I don't have to do anything? I just... decide to be one?" She frowns a bit, as if the concept of such a big decision couldn't actually be real.

"Well... Yes an' no..." Vrinn begins, contemplative, his brow furrowing in thought. "For some people, that enough, aye. The pick up th' Circle of Daggers, invoke her name in prayer, and call themselves Calistrian." his words are tinted with a shade of disapproval. "For others though..." he begins his next sentence as he begins to disrobe, his jacket being folded neatly upon the bench, and as he pulls his tunic up over his head, his lithe torso comes into view, a mosaic of scars and marks splayed across his toned musculature. Turning his back to the halfling however, the wasp tattoo that coats his entire back and upper arms on full display "...The Savoured Sting is a way of life" The tattoo itself seems slightly unnatural. No scarring or blemishes, not even an imperfection mars its structure "For those that live by her tenants, decrees, and follow the Book of Joy, receive gifts and favour, pleasure beyond imagining. Though sometimes it's hard to distinguish between her pleasure and pain." his explaination is coupled with a short chuckle and a wince "This tattoo, I suppose you could call it, was given to me by her swarm of wasps, each stinger like a needle in my skin as I lay on them as a bed, while the Lady and I had our Tryst, an event that brought me back from the dead. Literally"
Mara reaches her hand out to the tattoo, gently tracing a line. Catching herself suddenly, she snatches her hand back. "Woah. It's... Wow. You died? Is that something that's going to happen to me? No, wait, first. I don't need to do that right? Get the" she waves her hand, the same one that touched the tattoo, at it, "that? Do all of her followers need to... 'Tryst' with her? Or is that more because you were dead? Or more because you like the Lust thing?" Mara stares at the tattoo, then shapes some flame to recreate the wasp in her palm.
Chuckling as he begins to redress, the air cold against his skin, the half-elf shakes his head "No, ye don't have t' die. But like I told ye, we'll be running headlong into danger, so it's possible..." he pauses for a moment, the tunic made of snake skin sliding back over his body, his heavy jacket following suit. "And as for havin' a tryst... Well... Not unless yer special. Or somethin'. I honestly don't presume t' know who she picks an' for what reasons. She is after all a divine goddess. But if ye do, guaranteed that it'll be the best fuck ye've ever had..." the rogue takes this opportunity to describe what it was like to have sex with a goddess (the best ever with the most beautiful woman ever), his voice eventually trails off as his eyes become glassy, obviously reminiscing. "Ahem. Where were we? Ahh yes... Giants. Tell me Mara, when we get these big fuckers, what will ye do?" his voice having changed from a favourable tone to something a little more serious
When Vrinn turns over to look at Mara, he doesn't actually see her, but thinks he does hear someone hyperventilating behind the large wall of flame in front of him. After a few minutes, she manages to calm down enough to get rid of the flames and tamp out any fires that started from her outburst. Still red in the face, she clears her throat a few times before trying to look Vrinn in the face. She can't seem to meet his eye, but does respond. "Um. I imagine that I'll burn 'em all to cinders. Unless y'all tell me otherwise. I don't see much reason to let them live." Speaking of the objects of her hatred, she begins calming down again and asserting control over herself.
Smiling, Vrinn reaches out and places a calming hand on her shoulder, feeling the heat radiating from her body he kneels in front of her "Good. That's good. I don't see much reason t' let them live either. They come into my town, burn down our houses, kill our mothers and fathers... No. Don't ye worry lass, they will burn" he states with conviction, his eyes of blue burning with a fire as intent as Mara's flame
She stares into Vrinn's eyes. "Good." After a few seconds of this, she shakes her head a bit. "Now, um. Could we get Karin situated? Do we need to speak to anyone else who lives here, to inform them of the new living situation?" She backs up slightly, letting Vrinn's hand slip from her shoulder as she returns to more mundane concerns.
