[LFP] A Shadowrun 5 game inspired by the Sprawl trilogy. [Tuesdays, 20:00 CEST]

I am looking for one player to join my Tuesday group for Shadowrun 5. The game is set in Hong Kong and is inspired by the Sprawl trilogy, so there is no magic or metatypes in the game. We play at 20:00 CEST / 19:00 BST and unfortunately the time can not be changed due to work and school, and due to the time we are only looking for EU players. The age of the group is around 25. We are happy to have people that are new to Shadowrun as well as veterans. Powergaming, metagaming and minmaxing is frowned upon and the games we play are generally quite RP heavy with combat. If you have any questions you can post them here and I will reply as quickly as I can. Best regards Erzrig edit:  A Player have been found so I am no more looking for an additional player.
I am potentially interested. Long time Shadowrun player (I still have my 1st edition hardback), with about 3 decades of gaming experience of all stripes. No magic / no metatype is fine by me. Since I am not familiar with the Sprawl trilogy, could you give me a quick overview, or a link to a site with pertinent information?

The Sprawl trilogy are  Neuromancer, Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive but in essence they are just a set of books written by William Gibson, portraying a cyberpunk world. The kind of game I am going for will be a open world where the first session/sessions will help to get the group into a position where they will have options on what to do and what long term goals they will be going for, and from that point they will be free to do as they wish. The reason for setting the game in the Hong Kong Free Enterprise Zone is to give the players a bit more freedom and break away from the familiar setting of Seattle. My reasons for removing metatypes and magic was to go for more of a cyberpunk feeling of the game where techonolgy reigns suppreme.
Ah, excellent. I know the books, but had not recognized them as the trilogy you were referring to. Having said that, is there not a significant risk that you'll end up with a very limited scope for character variance? I see face, samurai, hacker and rigger, and that is about it. Those roles, could easily be filled by two people, if they so desire. Classics of the genre, such as more street-level characters, are generally just not viable in Shadowrun, when compared to the heavier cyber-based archetypes. When removing magic from Shadowrun, it seems to me worth considering using Cyberpunk 2020 instead.
There is always a risk of that in roleplaying games no matter what you do. I have faith in my players since I have known then for quite a while and so far we have a decker, face, samurai and doctor if I have to use archetypes to describe them. There is quite a bit more to each character but I am not worried at all too be honest. I completely get what you mean but I am not a massive fan of Cyberpunk 2020 and while I am familiar with the system, the rest of the group is not and would prefer to play a system that they know, for now. I do have to disagree that more street level characters are not viable in Shadowrun, that depends entirely on what kind of game you play, for a combat heavy game I will agree with you but for a story and rp focused game then what chrome you got might not be as important as what you know.
