I am looking for one more player for a "Xothique" themed online game, using the RuneQuest 6 / Mythras rules. The campaign has been running for a month and has 3 core players, we are looking to add one more player. Previous RuneQuest experience not necessary, most important is an interest in the setting and themes. What we would like to do is invite interested players to join a regular session for a one-off tryout and see if the player & character is a good fit to join the existing group. The proposed setting uses the world of Xoth (from Xoth.net) for character generation and a setting, and some of the adventure material from The Design Mechanism, most especially Monster Island. Tone Clark Ashton Smith (Zothique, Hyperborea) and RE Howard (Conan, Kull), the mood I am going for is more CAS's Zothique setting. Although the player's guide and setting is written for Pathfinder, the game does not carry with it typical D&D tropes. RuneQuest 6 / Mythras Players new to RuneQuest are welcome but I don't recommend this game for RPG newbies. This is not a Gloranthan setting but instead an eldritch, decadent magic, sword & sorcery, ancient urban and wilderness setting. Rulebooks - you should have either RuneQuest Essentials or Mythras Imperative to refer to, or the full version of the RQ6 or the new Mythras core rules - both are very similar. I am making use of the magical and supernatural elements in RQ6 - Folk Magic, Sorcery, Theist Miracles, Spirits and Animism, Mysticism, all will make an appearance and some will be usable by the PCs depending on their background and choices they make, but these elements will not be typical 'high fantasy'.
