Edit: Not sure if my title makes it unclear, but I'm after a long-term campaign, not just a one-off game/session. Hi everyone. I'm a 22yr old postgrad living in Oxford. I am looking for a group to play 5e with, preferably in a campaign that has yet to start (or otherwise, is just starting out). My preference for a yet-to-start campaign is due to the benefits of participating in session 0 (eg. my character meshing well with the party and the world itself). Although I have not actually played tabletop D&D (or online) before, I am well-versed in the 5e ruleset (from watching far too many hours of D&D streams, and reading through the PHB multiple times for the purposes of designing characters) and the general D&D setting/lore/bestiary (from a childhood of playing games like Baldur's Gate, IWD, NWN, etc). I will not have any issues with the rules; I guarantee it. As a player, I enjoy the idea of D&D not just as a form of communal story-telling, but also problem-solving; the PCs working together to overcome the obstacles set before us by the DM. Combat and role-play/non-combat encounters both appeal to me for this reason. I see myself as a combination roll- and roleplayer; roleplay is great, but my character still needs to hold his own in any combat encounters and not leave the group covering my arse. I'm probably a little too keen to start playing D&D; I've taken to designing new characters and backstories for fun in my free time. As such I have multiple characters ready to go (which one will depend on your campaign setting and group composition) and a good understanding of the 5e ruleset and various class mechanics. Examples range from; an Oath of Vengeance Paladin / Favored Soul Sorcerer sworn to the service of Hoar (or your campaign's God of Vengeance). Member of an Order devoted to purging the land of the abominations and savages that have preyed upon the weak, thinking themselves free from retribution. a crooked ex-lawyer Pact of the Chain Warlock and his quasit pawn, Rat. an arrogant Eladrin Bladesinger, who feels the trials of adventuring and combat will advance his magical capabilities far more rapidly than being tutored in a library. a changeling assassin, half-orc enforcer (criminal background barbarian), and a good few more. (backstories developed further than what's listed here, but don't want to bore you with them unnecessarily. Plus, they'll obviously benefit from a good bit of adapting to your world). The timeslot mentioned in my title is one that will allow me to nearly-guarantee a lack of absences due to other commitments/arrangements. Thank you in advance.
