Character Creation Guidelines

General Info Characters will be made utilizing the Pathfinder game setting. All the information required to make and play a character can be found at the online source reference (just search whatever it is you're looking for, followed by 'PFSRD' in google, and it will take you right to it.) Alternatively, here is the link to the homepage: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/ Characters will be made in the utilizing the online roller provided via Roll20, with the GM present. This is to ensure maximum fairness for all, even though some of your characters may indeed be more or less powerful than others, Fate will have her hand in deciding some of that. During this campaign, I myself will also be at her fickle mercy. Characters will have the freedom to utilize the various source materials available on the PFSRD. However ABSOLUTELY NO THIRD PARTY MATERIAL. I think a lot of it is pretty awesome, and pretty awesomely unbalanced. In the near endless swath of material on PFSRD, there should be plenty of versatility in the official material to build whatever character you're dreaming up. Character Creation - Attributes : Roll 4d6, rerolling 1's, and adding up the three highest. - Traits : Each character gets 2 traits, one of which should be chosen from the 'Kingmaker Players Guide', or should otherwise tie your character into the campaign itself. - Starting Gear : Each character starts by either taking the class average in GP, or rolling for starting GP (also based on class). Traits may also affect this amount. After determining a GP value, you may spend any or all of it on acquiring starting gear, buying anything you want following these 2 rules: Firstly, it CANNOT BE A THIRD PARTY ITEM. Second, no single item can cost more than 50% of your total GP value. Any GP remaining after you purchase your starting gear is yours to keep. Remember, your character knows that they are wandering deep into uncharted and dangerous frontier lands where GP wont be nearly as valuable as having the right tool when you need it. Pack accordingly! - Backstory : This is perhaps the least restrictive part of making your character. I enjoy letting players come up with whatever unique and interesting background they can think of, and then let the consequences play out in game. Feel free to come up with something as traditional or far out as you'd like, keeping in mind these simple guidelines: First, be reasonable. If your background is equivalent to the life and adventures of a 20th-level character, why are you only 1st-level at the start of the campaign? Just keep in mind that, despite your age, your character is just starting their ascent to true power. You only take away from your own story if you start off with 'too much steam', or too powerful and unlikely a backstory. Second, don't take control out of the hands of the GM. That is, don't take rules that are prevalent in the Pathfinder Universe and change them to fit your backstory. Make your story as detailed as you want (actually, the more detail the better!), but make sure you focus on keeping it about your character, and not the world at large. Third, don't make your character into a joke. Not to say you can't have a funny character, or a character who jokes and is the comic relief. But don't make your character, his or herself, a joke. And lastly, while I always enjoy laughing and enjoying the fellowship that comes along with roleplaying, I intend to run this campaign with a dark, gritty and realistic tone. The Stolen Lands are a hard place full of hard people and dangerous threats. While I am certainly not opposed to a character who is light-hearted and good-natured (indeed, I'm hoping for at least a few!), a silly or overly flamboyant character might quickly come to feel out of place. While I encourage you to make and play the character you want to, I urge you to keep in mind the general dark and dangerous tone of the adventure itself, and how your character will fit into the world as presented. - Classes : You can choose any class from the following list. Alternatively, if there is another class from the official Pathfinder universe that is not listed you'd like to play, feel free to run it by the GM! Core Base Hybrid Alternate Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Wizard Alchemist, Cavalier, Gunslinger, Inquisitor, Magus, Oracle, Summoner, Vigilante, Witch Arcanist, Bloodrager, Brawler, Hunter, Investigator, Shaman, Skald, Slayer, Swashbuckler, Warpriest Antipaladin, Samurai, Ninja - Races : You can choose any race from the following list. However, you'll notice that some races are under a different "%" column. That represents the percentile chance of you actually being able to play that race (rolled by the GM, in your presence, via the Roll20 community dice roller). If you'd like, you can choose a single race you'd like to play that does not fall within the "100%" column. If the d% roll goes your way (higher is always better), you can play the race you've chosen. Otherwise, you are then reduced to choosing off the "100%" column. This may seem a bit odd or confusing, but I do this to allow at least a chance of exploring some unique characters, while hopefully not winding up with a roving band of monsters trying to masquerade as heroes. After all, the AP is called 'Kingmaker', and the characters involved should be mindful of their inevitable future as important figures in the growing world. Alternatively, if there is another race from the official Pathfinder universe that is not listed you'd like to play, feel free to run it by the GM! 100% 50% 25% 5% Dwarf Elf Gnome Half-Elf Half-Orc Halfing Human Goblin Hobgoblin Kobold Tiefling Aasimar Duegar Orc Android Catfolk Changeling Dhampir Dragonkin Drow Gripli Kitsune Nagaji Ratfolk Tengu Vanara Vishkanya Wayang Gathlain Strix Sverfneblin Wyvaran Lycanthrope Centaur Ogre Half-Dragon
We currently have (possibly) a Human Fighter, a Kitsune Ninja, a Half-Elf Enchanter, a Half-Orc Magus, plus 1 other guarenteed player who has yet to make a character.
Human Fighter Will be there.
