A Week Off & TREASURE SPLIT!

Edited 1476026956
Hey y'all- (SUMMARY for those who think this too long to read: 1. We're off next Saturday. Next game is 10/22 2. Everything goes! We're selling the farm! 3. Each PC gets 1696gp 1sp 6cp as his/her/its share so far 4. Go ahead and post any item you want to buy from the chart below at the "sell/buy out" price listed in a REPLY. 5. If you want to buy something else on returning to Sharn with your share+ savings, check with DM Octavio (or post below). ) We're off next week (so no game until Saturday, 10/22) and, before leaving the call last night, DM Octavio and I were discussing the upcoming game. He confided in me that we have, perhaps, 90 minutes left to finish up in Whitehearth and roleplay out getting back to Sharn (we were THAT close to the end when we stopped last night). (I'd bet on us actually taking two hours with our habit of some futzing, but we'll see). With that in mind, and hoping that we can move forward and start the next mission after we finish up this one, he and I discussed doing a preliminary party treasure split to help speed up play in between the end of this adventure and the beginning of the next, which will happen in-game when we do play. From the chart below, you can see, I'm literally putting EVERYTHING we're carrying in terms of treasure up for sale. This will result in each character (all 5 of us) getting 1,696gp 1 sp 6cp AFTER paying Skakan his 10% and BEFORE selling the jewelry and wand (since we don't know how many charges for value yet). So, we will each be getting a little bit more than that (maybe a few hundred, plus whatever we find in the last part of the adventure). That said, if you want something from the list, remember, as per our previous discussion about treasure, we're following the Player's Handbook method: you buy it at the sell/buy-out price with money from your share . List what you want to buy from the list below as responses. If more than one person wants it, we can discuss it/ bid on that item when we get back to the game . Otherwise, this will liquidate everything fairly for everyone. Finally, if you want to BUY something in between our return to Sharn and our next adventure, you can either contact DM Octavio directly about that (with the use of your share + personal savings to this point) or post it below if it's not some big secret purchase. Here's the list of what we have so far, where it is, and what it is worth. I'd buy the Haversack out (at 1,000gp from my share+savings), if no one else wants it, but will pass on it for anyone else who wants to buy it out in order not to drive up the price.
Concerning the haversack I do belive it should stay for the all group instead of having someone buying it. Its always useful to carry everything we find during the mission but when the mission is done, I don't know for the other, but if you want to care for it no problem, as long as it  comes back for the all group in the new mission.
I disagree. Someone has to carry it-- that means they're carrying the weight. That person gets the benefit of it-- the idea that someone has to play pack-mule for the party is disrespectful to whomever that is and also puts that person in the burdensome position of having to carry stuff for others. That also prevents them from using it for their own stuff because they have to carry the party's stuff (thus making it a burden instead of a benefit to the person carrying it). I'd rather sell it, get my cut from it, and buy my own than play packmule . The same argument could be made for the healing potions, but those are useless to Dembe and I and thus we're carrying the burden of no benefit if we don't sell them (or y'all don't pay for them) so we can purchase potions that DO work for us.
I don't mind being the pack mule and carrying the sack. Since it weight 5 lbs I'll use 5 lbs of one of the pocket for my own gear and call it a day.  Otherwise we sell what we carry?  That would be a ridiculous idea as the stronger member will be able to carry more then make more money because they are stronger.

So you want to put your 1000 gp for the pack then?  As I said, and Skakan has said before, "I want my cut."
Well if I put my 1000 in the bag I won't share it with the group. I was talking about having a group stash for carrying stuff before splitting it within everybody.

BESIDES ALEXIS AND I CHATTING ABOUT THE HAVERSACK, MAKE SURE YOU LIST WHATEVER YOUR CHARACTER WANTS (INCLUDING THE HAVERSACK, IF YOU WANT IT) !!! And that, which you just said, my dear friend Alexis, is why someone has to pick the haversack. Let's back up a little and clarify our points. I firmly understand your point: you want to keep the haversack as a "party item" that one person carries to carry our loot in. Am I correct in that understanding? Here's my problem with that: it's only 120 pounds and it forces whoever has it to either (1) not use it for their personal goods or (2) to pull their personal goods out when the party wants to carry something. It's 120 pounds in three specific areas: 20 pounds/ 80 pounds/ 20 pounds. 1000 coins weighs 20 pounds. (50 coins weigh 1 pound). If you (or I) am using the haversack and the party finds 2000 coins, are you (I know I'm not) ready to empty out those two pouches, carry an extra 40 pounds of your own gear (since it's not in the bag anymore), and carry the party's money? If you (or I) take it, I'd assume the reason would be to avoid being over-encumbered, not encumbered at the party's convenience. (We already had Mazakan try to push dozens of alchemical items on the party because he wanted us to carry his weight--- this can be the same kind of problem.) Your crowbar that you want and the greatsword are 3/4 of a 20lb pouch. Throw your bedroll in and you've filled a pouch. Find a masterwork suit of platemail and you've filled the middle pouch-- you can't carry a 2nd suit of platemail-- it won't fit in the bag. (MW Plate is NOT worth carrying by the way unless you are wearing it-- and having a 'party bag' means those who don't understand weight-to-value can make whoever has the bag carry what is basically worth less per pound than silver....Anything less than +2 plate is NOT worth the weight for the $$$ it yields. +1 Plate = 2,500 gp sells for 1/2 so 1,250gp @ 50 lb; 50 lb = 2,500 coins, in gold, that weight  BUYS the armor that you cannot SELL for that much....) It's not much carrying capacity--- it's NOT a bag of holding.  And what happens if that person decides to use something that isn't their item but they're carrying it for someone else? or is not present for an adventure? Or stops adventuring with us? All of these issues are solved with one simple solution: the haversack has an OWNER that gets to decide when and how it is used. I'm good if you take it and don't share your extra space; I'm good if you take it and DO share the extra space; I'm good with anyone taking it. I'm just not good with the party getting to decide that one person carries everyone's extra weight because they have a certain item. Also, as a final issue, the idea of a "party sack" works great if we were a more traditional "meet in a bar and we're all friendly" party. We're a much more diverse and complex party than that-- there are trust issues and respect issues between our characters (which is all part of the game and an aspect which makes it more fun), and these issues in ways would make a communal perspective on gear and storage beyond the immediate short term a little idiosyncratic for us, don't you think? Hopefully, I understand your position correctly. Hopefully, I've explained mine more clearly. With that in mind, I don't care who gets the haversack, just that someone does. That person can then decide how the bag is used and I can use my cut to either buy my own bag later or to get what I think I need for my character.
You understood correctly, I have a hard time seeing it your way but do as you wish, I seems the only one that want to keep it as a group item.  I wasn't saying that the "carrier" should put his gear into the sac but only use 5 pounds of the sac as the sac will weight 5 pounds into his own weight. But I care no more, if you want it you have my blessing.

BUMP! Hey y'all-- I simplified the list, taking out all the common items, and sorted it by type of item. Each of us, at present, is taking away 1,496 gp 1 sp 6cp  after Skakan's cut (I took value of Haversack sale out of our profits until party decides what to do-- only Alexis and myself have commented on that issue so far and it's a split at present). Seriously, look through the list and-- if you want any of it-- buy it out of your share + savings and post that you want it below. You fleshborn meatbags would likely benefit from picking up those healing potions at 1/2 price. Even though they don't work in the Mournland, at half-price they'll prove useful soon enough. Also, everyone who cannot enchant his/her own weapon can benefit from the oil of magic weapon. (Expecting others to enchant your weapon adds another round to any combat response as the enchanter must do his/ her own weapon as well.) Most of y'all could benefit from the cloak of resistance. That pearl of power is sweet for classes that have to prepare their spells (clerics, druids, wizards, some others). The wand, once we know its charges, will be more expensive but might be useful to an arcane caster. I don't think anyone can afford to buy the double-scimitar, but if someone wants it, we can decide as a party how to make that work. ITEM COST WEIGHT SELL/ BUY OUT POTIONS Oil (Silversheen) 250 0 125 (3x) Oil (Magic Weapon) 150 (50/) 0 75 (25/) (6x) anti-toxins 300 (50/) 0 (0/) 150 (25/) Potion (Cure Light Wounds) 50 0 25 Potion (Invisibility) 300 0 150 (3x) Potion (Cure Moderate Wounds) 900 (300/) 0 450 (150/) 6 alchemist fires 120 (20/) 6(1/) 60 (10/) 3 vials holy water 75 ( 25/) 3 (1/) 37.5 (12.5/) WEAPONS Masterwork Greatsword 350 8 175 Masterwork Longsword 315 4 157 +1 Mace 2305 4 1152 +1 Double Scimitar (STRONG Magic) (??-Valynar??) 4,925+ 15 2460 OTHER MAGIC ITEMS Scroll (Resist Energy) 150 -- 75 Pearl of Power, 1 st level prepared spell 1,000 0 500 1 everbright lantern (60-ft cone/120-ft shadowy like bullseye lantern; never goes out, ECS, pg 265) 212 3 106 Cloak of Resistance +1 1000 1 500 Wand (Burning Hands/ CHARGES: ???) (y = charges/50) 750*y 0 375*y Maybe Haversack
I'd like to buy the wand, if that works (of course we'd need to know charges).
