finding out date and time of conversation?

I know some chatrooms or IRC include date/time stamps. When I enter a room that's open to pickup games (like GURPS Combat Zone or GURPS 001) I see old conversations and am curious how long ago they happened but can't seem to find this even when I opened the chat archive.

Is there some trick to enabling this detail to display?

Yes, there is. In the upper right corner of the window you have settings - above the chat, where there are tabs, it's the last one. There you will find an option to "Enable chat time stamps"

I checked the box, it added time stamps next to the right window but no date stamps so it's a useful feature but still doesn't help in terms of knowing how long ago an older conversation happened. Also even the hour/minute stamps don't seem to show up when you open the expanded Chat Log and there doesn't seem to be a settings icon for that to check the box so I can only view the hour/minute time stamp when the chat is merged with the map.

I notice it does say:

"Timestamps for chat messages sent less than 24 hours ago will show as only the time, with older messages including the date as well."

However stuff sent later than 24 hours might be pushed off the page into the log where no stamps seem to be enableable.
