Players Dropping Problem?

I have had a large amount of players just keep dropping. Sometimes its just life stuff getting in the way but my last few campaigns failed because of this.  My current one had a new player join and I gave him some major information that the party needed.  The problem is that he didn't show up after his first session and now I have to RP his character without making it feel like a plot device.  I really dislike this part of Roll20, it has really ruined all my plans multiple times in a row.
Welcome to the internet . I start with having players email me, then I get them to send me a skype contact request, I also have a session zero to set up their character and run them through a short roleplaying experience. Even with these steps it takes time to build a stable group. It took almost a year to stabilize my Saturday D&D group and my Friday SWN group has just become really stable after a year. Like the Princess you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your group.
As Al E. pointed out, this is not an issue with roll20, but an issue with people. If you want people who are really committed, you could have them give you their mobile number and then bug them about it, or have them pay you for your DMing so they feel more obliged to attend sessions. Additionally, I'm not sure if you actually have a specific use question you are asking here... There is not a single question in your entire post.
