3.5 D&D, character progression help!

I'm a bit of a noob but I've been taking a group of even noobier players than me through a few adventures, and for the most part having a superb memery with this sort of stuff I've had any questions or things I couldn't work out myself. However, I've hit a stump. The Cleric has now gotten to level two. After viewing his spells, specifically "Cure Light Wounds" I've noticed that it is 1d8+1, per caster level. Does that mean it is 2d8+2 now he's level two? Or simply 1d8+2 Or would this bonus occur when he gains 2nd level spells at Cleric Level 3?

Moved to Off-topic. Cure Light Wounds is 1d8+level (max +5), so at level 2 it is 1d8+2. At level 3 it is 1d8+3...etc. This is caster level, not spell level. At Cleric level 3 you have a Caster level of 3 when you cast Cure Light Wounds. So you will heal 1d8+3. - Gauss
