Preamble So it seems if you have no experience with DnD roll20 is not the place to learn. Many of you likely have a similar feeling after being ignored in the LFG section. My intent is to learn to GM through a trial by fire to lessen the barrier to entry for anyone interested in 'testing the waters' as it were. About me As a Person : My name is Allen, I am 23 years old. I attend university and maintain a part-time job. I enjoy medieval high and low fantasy settings as well as urban low fantasy. I play a variety a of games ranging from Dark Souls and Magic: The Gathering to Stardew Valley and Settlers of Catan . While I have a deep love for pen and paper RPG roots, I have very little luck breaking the barrier to entry. Which leads me to-- As a GM : I have had several groups over the years, most of which fell apart after a short time due to attendance and overall lack of interest. As such I have received very little feedback on the little bit of practice I have DMing a game. I am looking for both veteran and new players to fill out a small, consistent group. I am more than willing to learn DnD 5E as well as GM custom P&P games I have made (to cater to non-role players). As a PC : I have run a single full encounter only to have the GM disband the group before the next session. Any level experience PCs willing to give feedback are encouraged to do so. I would like to run the most enjoyable game possible for all involved. Jumping down a 20ft+ well to impale (then mount and ride!) a giant cave spider boss before collapsing and drowning in an inch of water can be a momentous event with the right people. Ground Rules Rage quitting - 0 Tolerance, groups are destroyed when one person decides they are more important than the collective time and effort of the group. Rage quitting will result in immediate removal from the group and any current campaigns. Availability - Most people have very different schedules from one another, in order to accommodate a broader pool of participants campaigns and scenarios will be organized and run by the group + their desired GM or Vice-versa. Please do not commit to a campaign/scenario if you will not be available to complete it. Exception will be handled on a case by case by the GM and party involved. Consistency - DnD is a very demanding time commitment. It is understandable that after the first few multi-hour sessions the luster will have worn off. If you plan to leave the group please inform any GMs/parties/campaigns you are involved in. We would like everyone to have a positive overall experience even if you decide you'd rather join the town guard. Blame on some joint related injury if you must. Have Fun - This is a passtime, it is supposed to be enjoyable. If you feel something could be done to improve the situation please bring it up with your party/GM or even in private. We are not mind readers, help us to help you. Please, understand This is not an existing group, I am attempting to start this on my own. Things will be slow, we will have downtime, we will spend hours on single encounters, people will destroy campaigns, characters will die, time will be wasted, and tempers will flare. If you apply for this group you are not only applying to join a DnD session, you are committing yourself and time to other real-life people with opinions and emotions that are just as valid as yours. Let's all be respectful and maintain a positive environment, save your unbridled fury for the Troll Warlords eyeing us from over the hill. Contact Me Discord - GutterSnipe#5943 -8 PST
