Shadowrun 4.0 group LFGM (looking for GM)

We've clearly got the interest, now all we need is somebody to run it. Would anybody have the time to run a Shadowrun 4.0 campaign here?
I am totally down to play this, man. I bought the 4e book a few years ago and have never had a chance to play. I can't gm, though. I've never GMed shadowrun before and I don't have a good grasp on some of the rules, mainly matrix stuff. I will definitely play if we can find a GM.
First post here on Roll20.net From the looks of things there is many eager players out there looking for a Shadowrun game (me included). But for the life of me I have never really been able to find a solid "consistent" group of RP'ers out here in the flesh. This whole online table concept has me drooling at the possibilities. I am familiar with the 4th edition of Shadowrun. But I have yet to dig in. If you wish to add an additional player to your group of GM hunters though I'm with ya. On the other hand if maybe a decent group of us put our heads together maybe we could mash out a decent round of campaigns and GMing practice overall if you into digging in. I have the time to put in right now and could likely get to work on setting up a campaign. But I would have to say I have never once GMed. But I would love to take a shot at anything that is "Shadowrun RPG" related. So yeah either way count me in if you desire.
I have decided to wait till the 5ed comes out as i missed 4ed completely. Once 5ed comes out I will run a big fat game.
I love the universe. I've played the awesome (Sega), the not as good (SNES), and the absolutely so horribly bad that they should find a way to go back in time and make it so it never actually happened (PC - Microsoft). I have never actually played the PnP but I'd love to get into it. I dont care about which edition...but Id want a little time to read preferably.
I WOULD like to GM, but I don't trust myself to do a good job. Would be interested in playing though, but me GMing should probably only happen if we're desperate.
Are you inexperienced with roll20.net or with Shadowrun? Or with GMing in general? I think we're approaching desperation, and what better way to gain experience than through practice?
I'm in 2 DnD games on roll20-- one in which I am a player, and one where I'm DM. The reason I'm reluctant to GM for this is because my experience with Shadowrun consists of running two short missions via PBP on a forum somewhere, which went the way of most PBP games. Other than that, I've had a very difficult time finding people who are interested in playing.
I don't think you'd have that difficulty here, but rules aside, Shadowrun is a fairly complex universe, where lots of politics, intrigue, border-hopping, back-stabbing, etc. etc. is expected. I completely understand your reluctance to GM a world like that with too little experience.
I think we're all interesting in playing. If this game gets rolling I will definitely be in it for the long haul. I already have a character made from the 4e book. I call dibs on mage by the way. He's mostly a combat mage, so another support/buffing mage would be useful if someone wants to play that. I'm kinda worried about 5e, mainly because I think it is too soon for another edition (but i'm not really sure how long 4e has been out). So far there aren't any good shadowrun-style tokens on roll20, but i'm working on my own. Hopefully we can find a GM soon, but it seems like we're getting close to desperate, so Seann B, you may want to take up the reigns. Don't worry about making a complex, drawn-out storyline if you're not confident in your ability to do that. The Shadowrun game is mainly mission-based. It actually makes sense for us to work for different johnsons, corporations, and factions. Not everything has to tie-in, but a few things should.
I have actually been playing around with Roll20 so I can learn and see the best way so I could GM a game. I am more then willing, I just trying to get my self familiar with this tool set so I can run a SR4e game.
Let me know if you need any help with the toolset. I'm not saying I'm an expert or anything, but I'll help if/where I can.

Oooh, that is actually very interesting. So the big question is when would people be wanting to run something? Because right now the best for me would be Monday nights.
Haha. Now I feel like I need to rise to the challenge and prove myself. XD But it looks like Nairgule's beaten me to the punch. Also, I have school Monday nights, so if that's the time decided upon, I won't be able to play.
The biggest problem I've noticed with roll20.net when it comes to Shadowrun is the inability to split players onto separate maps (for matrix runs, etc.) or the ability to generate sub-layers (for astral perception, etc). I know features like these are in the works, but for the time being some of the more specialized elements of Shadowrunning require a bit of creative planning on the part of the GM.
Hey, I just wanted to voice my opinion on this Shadowrun matter. I am crazy excited for this, if we have a GM. I have never played a PnP RP before, but as a kid watched my brother play Shadowrun, and once old enough to grasp the concept, had no friends nerdy enough to play. Sadly, again, I know nothing about playing PnP games, the interest has just been overwhelming me over the last few years. I would like to join the group if I can. I will list a few facts about myself, and you guys can be the judge on if you would like to have me around: * 25 yrs, male, from eastern Tennessee, USA *complete newb when it comes to PnP * I have class monday-friday until around 4 * I usually work saturday - wednesday nights, though I can take off saturdays if need be. * I am completely interested in playing Shadowrun, and will read up on the lore more if need be Thank you, and all I ask is that if you do include me into your game, please be a little patient. It doesn't take me long to figure stuff out, but I will be new all the way from rolling a new character, to killing some troll for cyberware. - Max
I can play anytime except 6-10pm saturdays, and 4-9pm tuesdays. (I'm playing other campaigns)
My available times just changed. instead of 6-10pm saturdays, i'll be unavailable 4-9 on mondays and tuesdays.
Ok here is my schedule. I have mon-wed off. Thursday-Sunday I work grave yard. I can start a game on Monday at any time to fit schedules. I am pacific coast.
Mondays work best for me right now. I have the day off, so I can start/end any time.
I can play weekdays after 6:00 pm cst and am very flexible on the weekends I built a gun mystic adept illusionist a while ago and would like to use him
Ok I got three here who can do Mondays. If we can get one more for mondays we will work on what time for Mondays and start working on a date we can start.
I can do Mondays.
on mondays i would like to start at like noon, or after 9pm because i have another game on monday starting at 4pm.
actually, i can start before noon. i'm willing to get up early for shadowrun.
also, if anyone needs help creating a character i suggest going to chummergen.com and downloading the character creator. it's friggin great. keep in mind though, if you make any changes to the options, you need to restart the program for them to take effect. and don't mark the character as created until you're absolutely sure that you're finished. chummer really helped me out, and i think it will help you guys, too.
If people are willing to do the noon deal, I'd be quite interested in joining as well. This, of course, is provisional on there being room; given my late statement of interest, I realize that the other players have precedence.
Well Gin, noon is a little to early. Ok Im looking to run the game on mondays around 4 or 5pm pacific. I would like our first get together to be the 28th of this month, or Feb. 4th. I like doing standard 400BP char build. 35 pos-neg qualities. I like to use http://www.myth-weavers.com for using sheets online. Add Nairgule as a friend on there. An extra 30BP for a good background story.
please, please, please don't do mondays at 4pm. I'll have to choose between this and another dnd campaign. if that is the only time that will work for everyone, i'll try to get the time of my other campaign moved or something. i'm sure i can work something out, but can we please shoot for another time. also i want some info on the setting of the game so i can set up my back-story accordingly. i'm assuming seattle, but if you have something else in mind i would like to know. also my last few GMs had a houserule that fetishes reduce the drain for a spell by 2, instead of giving you 2 extra dice for the resistance test. can we please use that rule? I really like it.
I have to do that time. While I do have Mondays off I dont want to catch wife agro lol. And yes it will be Seattle, but I don't keep it to Seattle. Been known to head to Denver, Tokyo, and Cali. Oh and I have crash landed people in Chicago, mwahaha.
I can't wait! I've never played before but I made an Elf Samurai. He's more of a faceman than a fighter though, with his 9 charisma.
With all due respect, please don't say 'at any time' in the future, if this is distinctly not the case. It is somewhat disappointing for those of us who, due to location, are seldom able to get into any games. But good luck with the game, I suppose.
Ok Taco, if ya need help don't hesitate to ask. To Iroel: Sorry you feel the way you do, but I did say to fit schedules. This does include mine. Now if you can make it you are more then welcome to come join. Desert Tiger, Necron. Whats optimal for you, if you are still interested. Kanso, Art: More then welcome to come join.
Looking around on Myth-Weavers, I must confess I'm not terribly impressed. The character sheet is missing several areas of data (like firearms accessories and modifications) and after spending 10 minutes filling out a character sheet, I lost all my data because it logged me out, apparently. Chummer is a much more robust character sheet generator, and the career mode makes keeping track of stuff during play a breeze. Also, it's freeware. But I'll use Myth-Weavers if you insist.
Personally, I used Chummer as well. It held my hand pretty well throughout the process.
You can use chummer. But I would like to be able to see your char sheet as well if for nothing more then stats and skills.
Or if possible to mail me your chummer sheet. Just send me a private message for my email.
Chummer creates .chum files which we can send you by email once they're complete. Then we either just send you updated copies or keep track of changes together.
Sounds good.

ok. that time works for me. i can make it work.
Sweet Ginsu, write up a toon using chummer, and then send me a tell for my email when you are ready to email it.
i'm ready to email you my char file. i'll send u the message
I like doing standard 400BP char build. 35 pos-neg qualities. An extra 30BP for a good background story. What do you mean by 35 pos-neg qualities? I can spend up to 35 of my 400BP on qualities, or I get an additional 35 that can only be spent on qualities, or I can take negative qualities up to an additional 35 points? Also, what constitutes a good background story?
I believe he is referring to the standard rule that limits you to no more than 35 points of positive qualities and no more than 35 points of negative qualities at character creation (two separate limits).
Necrons got it. As for a good background story means something more then "I had a crappy life, so I turned to the shadows." Who is your char, why do they do what they do, what are they like.
Are we aiming for the 28th or the 4th for our first session?
No clue, no one has gotten back on that one just yet. Also still waiting on Taco, hehe.
Sorry, thought that bit was dependent on you. I'm good to start whenever you're ready.
You didn't get my email? I sent you one.
