Alternate tile graphics (multiple states for map graphics)

How about when i drop a graphical element to the map layer i also get to select another alternative version of this same graphic, which the GM can toggle during game play. This would allow for example to use a graphic of a room, with an alternative graphic of the same room beginning to flood... or the same room with a wall collapsed. Or maybe a glowing statue, or a secret door . Simply put having 2 (or multiple) states for any graphical map element. These features would be great for giving players the feel that dynamic events or story events could effect the environment in some way. Its the first step toward animated special effects, but seems like a nice simple way of acheiving the same "feel" for players.
This is kinda in line with something I'd want which is the ability to switch Token icons... Like oh hey, that man just turned into a werewolf. What you want is already kind of available though. You can put the flooded room on the GM layer and change layer when it actually floods. But treating it as a token where you can change the representative image and have them both a part of that token would rock.
Switching to an alternative version of this same graphic could be addressed unter what the devs recently were calling "multi-sided tokens" , and I agree that would be a good thing to have in Roll20.  In principle, the thing already exists: when you place a card upon the canvas, you can open its contextual menu and pick "Flip Card" , which indeed is switching between "an alternative version of the image". Optionally, images could store a custom number of alternate . . . images, as well. This could be applicable without restrictions to background images, maps and tokens.
You can already do switch Token icons in a roundabout way. Create a character sheet and make sure to fill in important attributes (HP, Mana, whatever resources your game uses). Then drop both tokens on the map and have them both represent the same character sheet. Make sure the bars represent the correct attribute and both tokens will update whenever a change is made to one of them (or the character sheet). Swap out tokens as needed. :)
