Making Survival Mode Enjoyable

Survival mode, much like a survival overhaul mod for Skyrim or the "Survival" difficulty in Fallout 4, involves the basic necessities in order to survive along with Skyrim's potions or Fallout's iodides and stimpaks. As an outdoorsman, I appreciate the survival and wilderness aspects of these games, but unfortunately, there is not an implied set of rules for most TTRPGs, and most people just bypass the survival aspect of the game because they don't find it fun or that food and water are only useful for healing; which brings me to my question of " how can you make survival fun for players who usually try to avoid it? " I ask this because I find the science behind it to be interesting, as well as making the game seem very immersive and having the characters seem like ACTUAL living creatures that need to survive on more than potions and healing spells.  Also on a side note, for anyone looking for realistic survival, the App Store and Google Play Store both have a LITE version of John "Lofty" Wiseman's SAS Survival Handbook.  Thank you for reading and feel free to ask further questions on the topic or share suggestions
