[Request] New game coming to Kickstarter soon looking for someone to make a character sheet

Hello guys. I am working with a very small team trying to get a game ready for kickstarter soon and am curious if anyone with proper character sheet skills would be willing to work together with us to set up a character sheet for once we release the quickstarter guide so that people can test it. Your name would be added to the backers and a free backer reward would be given (including the quickstarter guide) that is still to be determined. You would need to be able to work with API to make the character sheet. If you are interested please contact me. Off topic, we are also still looking for artists that can draw in a style similiar to this:&nbsp;<a href="http://www.scififantasyhorror.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/the-art-of-puppeteer-lee-4.jpg" rel="nofollow">http://www.scififantasyhorror.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/the-art-of-puppeteer-lee-4.jpg</a> so if you can or know someone that can they can also contact us (this will be a paid service of course)

Character sheets take a significant amount of effort. Good ones take hundreds of hours. No offense meant, but you're basically offering exposure for a significant amount of work for a venture where you're getting paid. Not such a great deal.

I thank you for your honest reply in this, I was unaware of the amount of time that went into character sheets. The offer still stands of course, but I now fully understand if no one wants to accept this. Once again thanks, I had no idea this took a long time to do

Depending on what the sheet requires, it can take long time and effort due to the css and html coding with all the system mechanic formulas that will be added in the sheet. That is just the bare basic sheet with none of the various tricks like hiding repeating sections, API scripts, and other nicknacks. The simple sheets on roll20 usually have about a thousand lines of html code and about half that much for the css code then you get to add more for specific coding. I'm an amateur when it comes to sheet building but it is time consuming.

perhaps you could post an image of your sheet and the sheets mechanics , that would give us sheet authors an idea of what your after also if you want to use an api then you would be restricting the use of the sheet to plus or pro members

Kryx is correct, I used it in a very general term. I do not need anything to auto fill or whatnot and nothing that only high paying members can use. The game is still in an NDA until the kickstarter is official (to protect it) so I cannot say too much. All I can say is it will be a bit like a cross between fallout PnP and D&D 3.5 So the top would have name gender hair color, eye color etc. We have a place for stats, secondary stats, skills and then three pages one is for the weapons (and upgrades to the weapons) and then 2 more for feats,perks or what ever you want to call them (special bonuses) 1 page for generic 1 page for special. I hope I am not being too cryptic here. Talking with my partner though we really want this game to work on roll20 so because it is pretty extensive to make a character sheet we are looking for what it would roughly cost to have someone make us a really good one and then add that to our funding so we can make sure that the people that like it can play it online without any problems.

Pricing advice: <a href="http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Industry=Softw" rel="nofollow">http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Industry=Softw</a>... gives an hourly rate of about $25 for a web developer. Hours will vary based on the complexity of the product, but I'd estimate somewhere around 100 hours for a solid product with sheetworkers and everything. So $2,500 at normal hourly rates. It's possible to find someone to do it for less (or more). Or it may take less (or more) time. But this could be used as a rough estimate.

Perhaps there's a character sheet already in the Roll20 GitHub repository that would serve as a basis for your games character sheet? When I did the Fantasy AGE sheet I forked the Dragon AGE sheet so the work was considerably reduced.&nbsp;

I'll second Andrew's idea about looking over the existing sheets and see if there is any that might be tweaked for your system or just used as inspiration. There are code snippets floating around that will speed up much of the coding also as whoever you get can do a copy paste then work on bug hunting the code to fix any errors.
Most of the sheets on Roll20 were not made for pay, at least as far as I know. &nbsp;Some one who knew coding and liked the game put it together, or, if I did it, didn't know coding and put one together. &nbsp;

Hi there. As everyone already explained it, it can be time consuming. By the way, it can be difficult to estimate required abilities / coding time without any information regarding game mechanics (that would required some automation, sheet worker coding, and so). Another information would be estimated delivery time for the character sheet. Do you need in days, weeks, months ? I would be glad to help but don't have enough spare time in the coming days.

Existing sheets can be great inspiration, but like any coding project if you copy+paste everything it'll be a mish-mash of something that may be hard to maintain. It all depends on the quality desired vs costs.

Well we expect to put the game on Kickstarter in 3 months time and part of the initial thing will be a free quickstarter guide to try the game out, so we would have loved to have a sheet ready. So maybe someone will like it enough to make a quickstarter character sheet (which would be the same as a normal character sheet, minus some changes that may be made later) Until it is on Kickstarter though I could give anyone that wants to, access to view a concept of our character sheets, but could not explain the different parts too much due to an NDA. Once it is on Kickstarter I can say everything :p and of course anyone that wants to work on it I would never stop, offer still stands of course but they would need to sign an NDA if they want the full info while they get the character sheet ready. So I do not want people to think I want to take advantage of them. If someone wants to contact me about this you can feel free to PM me and if no one wants to then maybe after it gets popular (I hope it will, I think we have a very unique concept) then people will want to make one :p All I can say is watch Kickstarter for the arrival of "Advanced:The Circle" and die hard RPG fans will recognize many aspects of the game, but all with a twist :D But towards those saying to use pre existing character sheets for coding. The closest on Roll20 I have seen would be fallout PnP as our main page looks almost identical (I took much inspiration from the fallout character sheet). However the other pages are unique

Kryx said: I'd estimate somewhere around 100 hours for a solid product with sheetworkers and everything. While that's certainly a decent estimate for the more complex sheets like the various D&D/PF ones, I think that's a drastic exaggeration for many of the community sheets. I did the Yogsquest sheet in about a day, for example, and I think I spent two days on the Arkham Horror sheet. I definitely put more hours in on the Exalted 2e sheet than any of my others, but that was also one of the very first sheets created, period , so everyone was still learning the system. Exalted 3e and Dresden also got a lot of attention, but the Ex3 sheet included rebuilding the thing from the ground up and writing sheet worker scripts to migrate from the old to the new version, and Dresden included some CSS tricks that I wouldn't generally recommend.

Sheets are just like normal websites: their time to creation entirely depends on the quality desired in functionality, design, maintainability, etc. I have no knowledge of your sheets, but I'm incredibly skeptical that a bug free sheet showing more than a handful of fields was put together in 8 hours with html, styling, and sheet workers. For Shaped 5e I've spent thousands of hours. I'm sure Chris and the earlier Pathfinder developers also spent thousands of hours on their sheets. I have no horse in this race as I wouldn't have the time to work on a sheet for pay, but in my experience one day would not come close to producing a high quality sheet.

Ok, let's all refocus on the original posters request and not threadjack anymore. If anyone can help the poster out please contact him. Matthew C said: Hello guys. So basically, you simply need a sheet with manual fields and without any rolling macro... In this case, this is really simple to complete.&nbsp;

Thanks for the reply, I am working together with someone to create this sheet. You were half correct that you could not get detailed explanations on things, but some things are safe to give. I thank everyone for their input on this but it can be considered closed and you will be able to see the character sheet in all it's glory around the time the kickstarter starts (btw, I do not know if he wants people to know he is working on the sheet or not, so I will not say who it is, but he is ofc free to say it himself :p) I hope at least some of you will try it once the kickstarter has started and the quickstart guide has been made (which will launch from the start)
