Inclusive D&D 4e group

Ok, so I have seen a TON of posts online criticizing D&D (especially 4th edition) for stuff like sexism, which is kind of sad because D&D is really fun and I wouldn't want people to shun it because they see it as offensive. On the other hand, there's some games that go WAY over the top with their "inclusivity". For instance, I played with a group whose DM mandated that every character be LGBT, PoC, or Disabled. She then proceeded to make the "special trait" of each character the main focus of their being, instead of their flaws, feelings, actions, and so on. So, I made a campaign for people who want diversity in their campaign, but don't want it to become the main focus of the story. Some traits my campaign has: Non-Player characters with all kinds of sexualities, abilities, genders, and so on, without stereotypical depictions. No hypersexualized anything. A safe environment for people to solve problems regarding their own identities. Welcomes people new to D&D. Restrictions on characters Your character can be Human, and of any class except martial and hybrid classes. This is a "world thing". Other stuff I'm looking for people under 30, in the USA. This is an video and audio based game. We will meet saturdays, from 9-12 AM CT (This can be changed). Of course, this can change depending on what people want. Please PM me or reply if you are interested!
I wish you luck. I run 2 4e games and play in 2 more. All of my groups except 1 have someone who is non-traditional gender/relationships. Whether that means open relationships, gender neutral, trans, homosexual or otherwise, there is a strong force for inclusion that does exist in the gaming world. There are good groups and there are bad groups, but in my experience RP tends to be a way to express yourself and grow in a relatively safe environment compared to a lot of other media and platforms. Like I said I wish you luck, but I also think we should focus on making this the norm rather than needing to have a special tag to say it.
Hey, I'm looking for players, not advice. Thanks.
I'm interested, but I have like, 1% xperience with DnD at all. Think I could join and be shown the ropes, and maybe even play with you guys? I understand if you don't wanna take the time for a newbie, so either way have a good one ^-^
@brent absolutely! I love teaching new players!
Cool beans! Ill PM you about this then :D
Also, we could talk in Discord. If youd like, i can pm my discord stuff

@Gary, how could I forget!? :p Listing: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/62708/inclusiv... Starting level: 1 (but that's flexible) Style: Serious, dramatic, challenging, social, realistic, religious, anachronistic, original. Restrictions: Human only, Arcane, Primal, Psionic, and Shadow classes only. Universe details: Still in the process of creation, but it will be completely original. I drew some influences from The Matrix , Rome , A Song of Ice and Fire , House of Cards , and Flatland . Humanoid races and fantastic animals are like dolphins: Having an intelligence/sentience comparable to humans but without some of humanity's "hallmarks" (technology, for instance). Magic is like art: something everyone enjoys and uses but nobody can "make any money off of it". Magic isn't really magical... It's got something to do with super advanced physics but nobody knows. Mundane warfare has basically become obsolete. Most human cultures see warfare as brutish and disgusting (too much blood and guts). Lots of conflict between different ideologies. Not much technology (it's not developed enough to compare to magic), but respectable amounts of scientific knowledge (Like 18th century America). Religions don't work in the same way magic does: the gods have a mystical quality about them so nobody has definite proof if they're real. But that doesn't stop people from believing in them. (Like in our world) Medicine is incredibly advanced. The avg lifespan is in the 90s. Identity politics is a thing. Email exists. Sort of. It's more like telepathy. Sharp distinction between magic that definitely exists in the world and the type of magic that is this mystical religious thing. The new age movement exists in this world, and is the largest religious identity. Lots of religious themes (think of C.S. Lewis), from all world religions (I really mean all). Fanaticism is a huge issue. Morally ambiguous: The players are left to make decisions that they feel is right. Alignment... No. Just no. Politics is super dirty. I should also mention that there are mature themes. Not like 18+ mature (I'm 16 myself), mature as in it's meant to ask challenging philosophical questions and it won't work if you're making toilet jokes and trying to hook up with all the NPCs. I'm actually doing this for school.
