New Character Enters

A strange Russian wizard named John Snow.
okay, so i feel like i should explain the situation, this was a spur of the moment decision but one someone would have to make eventually. Our current predicament with not having a caster is becoming quite a big issue and impeding our chance to succeed at the objectives we've found ourselves infront of. On top of this as much as i love the game, volkrak was becoming a little predictable to me which in itself has its merits and means he's become his own entity with his own motives which i'm rather proud of, and i figured a change of pace will re invigorate my playing experience. to clarify, volkrak will return when he's needed but Bruenor fills the gap well enough and its time he has a chance to shine. where this leaves Kelyn i'm not sure but the needs of the group out weigh the needs of teh few. As ever, i look forward to next week, Volkrak out - John signing in!
I understand where you are coming from and it makes sense.  We definitely need a wizard/mage and Frank has been AWOL for a while.  It is good for the party.  I'm just trying to figure out how this affects Kelyn.  I'm having mixed thoughts myself so I'm open to any ideas or suggestions anyone has.     Does Volkrak hang out in the inn until such time as Frank shows up or he's needed?  Does he go back to the Grove or Iceland?  Wander off into the sunset never to be seen again?  What is the story justification for his leaving?  That's more for my curiosity than anything else.
i dont think i need to make an individual post for this, but here's your answers!  Volkraks' farewell stumbling to the top deck with a foggy head due to drinking way too much thanks to Lesha and Bruenor, volkrak makes his way to the keel of the ship and stares off as they travel onward with the wind. its been a long road since he'd left home and everything that followed had been a whirlwind of excitement and terror. even though he could see himself with the rag tag crew years from now he knows that his odds are not in his favour, then to no one but himself he heavily laments "i think its about time i put my feet on the ground somewhere familiar and just enjoyed myself without worrying about what lies around the corner..i'll need to tell Kelyn soon, who knows how long we'll have before we move on again..". once again he feels his stomach roll over and decides to go and lay down for a while before taking over from Bruenor. then once at port much to his chagrin they have to relieve themselves of their goods for a meagre price, although they could have simply been confiscated, volkrak feels somewhat suckered. then before he knows it amid the idle chatter of sharks and 'water' the call to arms is made and the gang prepares to leave, volkrak knows that there wont be a better time and makes his farewells. as he leaves the bar heading towards the port seeking a ship heading for the mainland he muses over the cost of buying a house and keeping it running, then he recalls the diamonds sitting in his pocket and laughs a small hearty laugh, but not a moment later he gets cut off by Kelyn...
No you didn't have to write a post for Volkrak's leaving.  I was just curious how you were going to handle it and justify it.    I'm still trying to decide what to do and yes I know I have figure it out quickly.  On the one hand, I don't think Kelyn would let Volkrak wander off without her, especially alone so I think she'd retire with him -- go back to the grove, help rebuild Brambleton, and live the quiet druidic life .  On the other hand, the party needs as many healers as we can get so retiring her is not good for the party.   So like I said, I'm torn.
Well, just my 2 copper pieces but what if Volkrak went to Brambleton to retire/semi retire and in the process of building this house saw to it that the citizens were able to build up the infrastructure a bit so that when Keyln retires or Volkrak comes out of retirement Brambleton is self sufficient and when the taxes start coming they don't break Keyln's bank?
Before he can get too far down the street, Volkrak hears a stern voice, “And just where do you think you are going? Sneaking off without a word?” As he turns around, Kelyn is standing near the bar’s entrance with her arms crossed and tapping her foot. She is dressed in a familiar blue dress. As he starts to stammer out a response, she suddenly smiles and picks up the pack at her feet. She kisses him deeply. “ A’maelamin , did you really think I’d let you go without me?” She takes his arm. “I know you haven’t been happy lately. And I miss Brinley and the Grove. Let’s go home. The others can handle what comes next.”
and they all lived happily ever after!  i take it we'll be seeing a new character then tracy?(this is gonna take some getting used too..)

I hope so...   and I hope we can visit them occasionally.   Yeah I know.   I've sent an email to Al about char creation and I'm waiting to hear back.  I'm not sure if the new char will be ready for Saturday.  If not, I'll just listen in for the night.
i feel like i, as a person, should be apologizing here somewhat..the two characters are kinda tied together and i made the call without checking in with you, sorry about that.
Its ok.  You've been kind of hinting at retiring Volkie for a while now whether consciously or subconsciously.   I figured it was coming I just didn't know when.
Vol ain't the ONLY fish in the sea! You'll find yourself another denmate/slave.
I'll be joining hopefully with a new character this week
Nice!
