Smart TV

I've been looking around for an answer for this and have been unsuccessful. I run two groups, one tabletop the other Roll20. Because they are so inexpensive these days, I was thinking of buying a smart TV and building it into a table to use for mapping for my Tabletop group, since I already build maps for my Roll20 group it would be nominal to use the same program for both. So my question, will Roll20 display on a smart TV browser? A related question, is there a way to view the map through a tablet app? Since all my players have tablets and most use them for their character sheets, having them able to move their characters with the tablet while it displays on the smart TV would be awesome, not to mention the capability of sending them secret handouts and such. Thanks, Chuck
Different TVs use different engines for their built-in browsers. Sony has Opera. LG and Samsung has Webkit. (There's always exceptions, of course) You'll have a much more consistent experience if you use a laptop for your source(as a player, not as GM) instead of the built-in browsers. There are plenty of wireless options (Chromecast, Miracast, etc) if a cable isn't suitable. You would most likely make heavy use of the GM-Ping to center focus where you want it for the display source, rather than trying to control it directly; or just nominate someone with a wireless mouse for "TV Duty" each session.

You may find this wiki entry (and the forum posts linked to in it) useful: https://wiki.roll20.net/Using_Roll20_while_Playing_In-Person And in response to the tablet question, there is the roll20 app for tablets and the Roll20 Table on Tablets Plus subscription perk .
I like to keep the GM screen on my laptop for me, and have one of the players project on the screen. Lets me get up to no good without them seeing.
I apologize, I don't think I explained myself well. I plan to use my laptop for GM control, I want to use the TV with a generic account for a general player view, and then allow the players to move their characters around with their tablets. I am a subscriber, but the tablet app doesn't seem to support the map, which the link you provided shows here: "Not included in the applications are tokens, maps, voice chat, video chat, and other tabletop functionality. " Having to move the characters for the players is not that big a deal, and I can live with that. This really just leaves the question of being able to use the smart TV browser, for which I have not been able to find an answer. I understand that different TV's use different built in browsers, but will Roll20 run well on any of them? I'm trying to avoid having another computer involved. If I can't, I might as well use a program like Fantasy Grounds that I can host on my server and cut out the internet aspect of it entirely, plus it has better tablet support.

Roll20 only officially supports chrome and Firefox as compatible browsers. That's the most in depth answer i can give unfortunately.

Chuck, you could run a 2nd browser tab on your computer, logged in as a Player, and have it showing on the TV (via the options Mark mentioned, a Chromecast or HDMI cable). This way you can still GM on your laptop screen, while also having a Player-view open on your laptop that is casted to the TV. The Roll20 supported browsers are Chrome and Firefox, it might work on another browser but would be considered unsupported. For being able to access the Maps on the Tablets, look at the 2nd link Scott posted. Not the app, but rather try the "Roll20 Table On Tablets" option. Wiki for that, https://wiki.roll20.net/Roll20_Table_on_Tablet_Sup...
We have a table with a built-in TV. The GM has a laptop for his view and previous we had a laptop for the players view, but my buddy recently bought a Raspberry Pi and a bluetooth keyboard, so we can use that for the TV.
I couldn't really use a second tab, I'd have to use a second browser window and use the TV as an extended display which is certainly possible, I could also just use my server (or any of the other great options people are offering) to cast and then would not have to worry about any issues with minimizing and opening folders or doing web searches for images when the group does something unexpected. Since a smart TV doesn't do me any good, I can save a few bucks, which is ultimately what I wanted to know. Thank you. Also, when I just go to the site on my tablet, trying to maneuver around the map is very difficult. The scroll bars are off the screen and the zoom bar doesn't work very well unless I override the site controls and zoom to it. I've tried it on a Nexus 7, iPad, and a Galaxy Tab S2 with a similar experience on all. It's far more an exercise in frustration than useful integration as I find myself accidentally moving or resizing the character when I try to maneuver around the screen, this is especially frustrating when using fog of war on a map that is larger than the tablet screen. I'd hoped the app would offer an experience better geared towards the tablets, while I'm sure many people find the features to be useful, it just doesn't work for me without the map. Are there any plans to add map integration to the app...or better yet, provide an app just for the map? Being able to switch back and forth between a map app and the existing app would work. Since the players are already using their tablets for their character sheets, I'm trying to keep everything in one place, which is why I am resisting options to bring additional computers into the mix. There are plenty of clever workarounds to make it work if you are willing to throw enough technology at the problem and I am sure as the program evolves a great solution will be forthcoming, we are just not there yet. It's all good. Thank you all for the responses.
I use a chromecast from my main computer to cast player view to the tv and then log in with a chromebook where I sit for map and token manipulation. https://imgur.com/gallery/p2Slc?lr=0
