Hello! Thanks for taking the time to consider this post, I am looking for 4-5 players for my HERO 5th edition campaign, played weekly on Fridays at 10 PM EST. Game Details : Our game is set in a near-future modern-day real world under attack from occult forces. In the game, the players are Illuminati agents attempting to repel, mitigate or exploit the attack of fantastical entities and other immortal beings. It's a urban fantasy setting, borrowing heavily from the horror fiction genre and folklore. Inspired by: Apocalypse World, Call of Cthulhu, The Dresden Files, Deadlands, Hellboy, Secret World & The World of Darkness. Voice : We'll play using a VoIP such as Skype or Discord. Experience : No prior experience is needed, and new players are welcome. Hero system is one of the more crunchier systems, and players are expected to learn with time. I've been playing Hero System for over 10 years and am prepared to make it as easy as possible for new players. I'll help create characters and do all the math for combat myself. Age : This game will have mature content, such as violence and horrific scenes. So I'm looking for players who are at least 18 years old. Rotating GM : Eventually, I'd like the players to take turn running their own chapters within our setting. I will help with anything potential GMs would need such as bad guy write ups, maps, API, rules or even running combat. GMing for the group isn't required. Start Date : Depending on number of application, we will begin with a character creation session either this Friday (the 16th) or next (the 23rd) For more details please look at my game supplement using the following link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1a7ch4CJ2QsvzLd... It contains: Setting Information Illuminati Information Character Creation Rules A Player Roster NPCs Game Specific Rules: Illuminati Ranks Requisition Rules Equipment Lists House Rules Game Goals/Expectations The Timeline Please apply here: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/64005/the-odyss... About me: I'm an enthusiastic RPGer who I enjoys GMing & playing equally. With over 15 years of experience, I'd really like to diversify my hobby & attempt to push gaming boundaries with programming and creativity. My GM Style: I prefer to run more dialog, story driven, games with enough tactical strategy to keep combat and problem solving interesting. Rather than white knuckling dice and coming up with a specific story I would like to tell yall, my GM style revolves around the players and what they want to get out of the game. Adaptable to say the least, I can GM from tactical rule heavy game all the way to "sandboxy" rules light games that emphasize role play. I seek to challenge the players, given the confines of the rules, and provoke them to shape the story rather than just being along for the ride. Simply put, I have a story to tell, but the players are the stars.

For my first shameful bump, I'd like to go into more detail about player characters. “First, let us congratulate you on your acceptance into the ranks of the Illuminati! The importance of our mission requires we select only the best qualified for Illuminati positions. We subject all potential employees to a strict screening process. You may not even be aware that you were screened, but trust us, you were. Now that you’re in, know one thing: Although you are going to be assigned tasks requiring great sacrifice and heroism in defense of the world, no one outside of the Illuminati will ever know of the importance of your contributions. This may be the heaviest burden you’ll bear. The first rule of the Illuminati is: No one confirms the Illuminati.” The player character play an investigative team, not unlike those found in Call of Cthulhu or even Shadowrun. Each character has their own niche/roll within the team. While combat will be present (at least one battle a game night), each mysteries will take much more than a loaded handgun to solve. Agents must also rely on their wits, lore and technology. While flashing a smile at the bouncer will get you into the club, will the demonic business mogul sitting in the VIP section be as charmed when you sit down uninvited? The campaign has limitless genre potential including horror, action adventure, covert espionage, political intrigue and computer hacker thriller. Sometimes all in the same night! This creates the need for Hackers, alchemists, faces, occult experts, 2nd story men, ect. The possibilities are nearly endless. So who will you be? I'll work tirelessly to chisel out your inner Illuminati Agent. One of the greatest features, albeit intimidating, of hero system is it's character generation. Rather than choosing a class and picking from a shopping list, it allows for players to build any character using a point system. During character creation night, I'll walk everyone through the process and spend time creating each and every agent. Do you have a favorite archetype? character? I'm confident I can come up with a write up that will match. As an example, I wrote up an Illuminati operative. To show how adaptable Hero System is, I loosely based it on one of the characters from "Overwatch." Page 1 Page 2 (Please click the images for better resolution) For those unfamiliar with Hero System, this may look like an information overload... There are a lot of numbers and ambiguous words. I promise there is a method to the madness and anyone can learn! In the past, I've thought people, who have never played an RPG, to be very comfortable with there character sheet in just one night. Everything will be explained! I've color coded separate parts of the character sheets to help finding things. Most of the sheet is there as a reference. So please head on over to https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/64005/the-odyss... and apply! I promise a long term campaign ran by a passionate, well organized, GM.
Second shameful & final bump, The game applications will close officially close tomorrow (Thursday the 15th) at 9 PM CST. Please keep in mind that I'd like to speak to you, preferably a Skype call, after you make an application to ensure you're the best fit for the group. I really appreciate all those who have applied or messaged me directly. That said, there is still a lot of time to apply! I want to fill this group with the best RPGers possible. I'm available all today, and all tomorrow untill 9 PM. If you would like to speak to me on skype, please send me a PM. This Friday (the 16th) will be our Character Creation night. The whole night will be spent making introductions and then working together to make the Illuminati field team. Next Friday (the 23rd) will be our first official game!
