General Mobile Table Question

Howdy! I'm trying out a unique setup this weekend. I've got a Steam Link set up, streaming a player account to a monitor at our table, where my players will be able to pass around a Steam controller to move their characters on the Roll20 table. To clear even more junk on my end (which is the whole point of this, as we've got limited space and physical maps take much of it), I'm considering upgrading my subscription to use the mobile table for DMing the game during play. My question is, is the mobile table good enough for basic DMing? I'm going to be creating the majority of my maps on desktop, and just manipulating monsters and drawing effects during the games on tablet. If anyone has any experience doing something similar I'd love to hear it. Edit: Should add I would be using a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition, has a great wacom stylus for drawing. Thanks!
Hello! I can only offer what I've experienced on the mobile side, and it wasn't the best. True, it worked, but its performance was...sub-par. Laggy, took ages for things to load, etc. HOWEVER, I was on a somewhat old iPad at the time, using browser R20 and Skype at the same time, and, for complicated reasons, was unable to use Chrome, the recommended browser. So the stars may have been aligned to screw me over. That being said, I'd give it a test shot. If money's tight, by all means wait for other people with less inopportune experiences to give their perspectives, but a one-time payment of five dollars to see if the mobile tabletop's viable might well be worth it. You might even be able to get your players to finance this intrepid expedition into the unknown. If it doesn't work out, there's always getting a laptop for DMing.

You don't need another computer if you're already using a comp to put the map on the TV. Just use another browser (e.g. player window in firefox on the tv and gm window in chrome on the desktop/laptop monitor)

Thanks all, since it's just $5 I'm giving it a go. So far the mobile table seems to be up to snuff on the tablet. The desktop computer that I'm displaying the player map from is in another room, but the Steam Link I've got streams it to a spare monitor I've got just fine. The Steam controller seems to navigate it just fine as well, will see how well my kids adapt to it though.

Maphreal, that will be interesting. Please update when you find out if your setup works perfectly for your game. Here is a link to an updatable tips-and-tricks page in the Wiki for playing in-person, https://wiki.roll20.net/Using_Roll20_while_Playing...
The setup went pretty good for our game. The only issue was some of the players found the Steam controller awkward. I'm going to look into finding a good presentation trackball mouse for them. We're more than likely gonna stick with this setup, so if I find anything else that makes it work better I'll give an update.
