If new DM's are uncomfortable with flight early on I would say ban that race from your runs. I know certain races wont be able to run certain missions due to alignment issues or just fighting there own breatheren As per my post 4 weeks ago when we discussed this I voted yes along with mike, and mix. jeremy voted no and Mark abstained. After a week of no other votes I added the material. If theres anyone to blame here it would be me I added all content not easily accessible to players. All the player and monster races added were done on my time. They are just extra races and spells theres really nothing OP about any of them and if we plan on adding things from Storm Kings Thunder (familiars), volo's (monsters and races), SCAG (races and subclass's) then 2 races should not be a huge deal. The sheer scope of Volos far outways the additions that are being taken for EE. This is my 2 cents if anyones vote has changed please let me know. No one playing the blame game. We are just reassessing things. One of the things we decided early on was to keep material to a minimum and only add things that seemed necessary to the campaign. We listed a lot of reasons for this and most of them were related to issues that occurred in 3.5 because of the overwhelming amount of material. We expect new releases of material that will specifically detail the Forgotten Realms as time passes. Each supplement adds more work to each DM (more books to browse to approve characters, etc...) It was for this reason that we made the preventive decision to limit approved material. Volo's is a Forgotten Realms supplement and thus was considered for approval. Marco Volo was a Waterdhavian noble that is well-known to most avid Forgotten Realms fans. This book specifically adds detail to the campaign world that we are playing in. Storm King's Thunder is also a Forgotten Realms supplement that begins near Waterdeep, travels throughout the Sword Coast, and eventually takes the PCs to the Spine of the World. The Sword Coast Guide is practically a "must have" if you are going to play in FR. Storm King's Thunder introduces detailed maps of the area we are playing in, NPCs that are currently active in the timeline we are playing in, current events, and a large number of other things that make the Forgotten Realms what it is. I have the original Temple of Elemental Evil printed in 1985. I have run it twice (once in 2nd ed and once in 3.5) even though it is an AD&D publication. It is a Greyhawk campaign setting adventure and supplement that can be adapted to any campaign setting; that is what the Elemental Evil Companion is based off of. It has absolutely no pertinent information for the Forgotten Realms. Welcome to the exciting WORLD OF GREYHAWK fantasy setting. It is a world rich in history, intrigue, and magic... a place of opportunity, and of danger as well. This is why adding it is in question. I am fine with the vote on this one, but we need to make a hard decision on what direction we are going. I can tell you from experience that if the setting becomes overly infected with Greyhawk, Ravenloft, or other source material, it will not have a very long lifespan. So we are putting it to a vote. We shall see what happens.
