I'd like to see an area of effect tool. It would most likely be just underneath the measurement tool and include a pop out similar to the drawing tool. I would include "circle", "cone" and "line". I'm not sure square would be needed. You'd set the size and then click or click+drag on the map. Circle would just be a click. Area of effect would be determined using "size" as a radius. Cone would set the start of the cone from the initial click, and aim the cone by the drag line. Computed area of effect would be determined by using "size" as the length of the cone, and the end width determined using a preference setting (see below). Line would set the start of the line from the initial click, and aim by the drag line. Computed area of effect would be determined by using "size" as the thickness of the line (in feet... think lightning bolt of 5' width). Area of effect would be computed and then "effected" squares would be highlighted. I'm not sure if the highlight should be only while the mouse is down, or if an object should get created. Preferences for area effect could be set at the sheet or game level. I'm aware of two styles for determining if a square is considered in the area of effect. One is that a square must be at least 50% within the computed area of effect to be considered "effected"; the other is that a square is "effected" if it contains any of the computed area of effect. The preference settings would be: Area of effect style: [majority|contains] (or something more descriptive) Cone style: [3.5|5e] (probably more)
