Maco question regarding DM info

In my campaign, I created a character token called a "Point of Interest" for storing my notes. Each instance has relevant information stored in the "GM Info" section, so that I can quickly check to see if I've forgotten something. However, I really dislike having open windows blocking the view of the board, so I would like to create a token action that can whisper this information to a selected player (primarially myself). I know how to set a macro to whisper someone, but I do not know if it is possible to retrieve the text from the GM Info section. Does anyone know if or how this can be done?

You can't call the GM notes section unfortunately, but you can put your notes in the bars. I do this for my POI tokens. Bar 1 is player accessible info (e.g. a general description) and bar2 is my gm only stuff.id recommend making the token a drawing (under the right click menu check "is drawing") so that you don't wind up with your text spilling out of the bubbles. I then have a generic room description macro that is: /desc @{selected|bar1} /gm @{selected|bar2}

You can't do that.  What people usually end up doing is storing it in one of the 3 bars or their max fields.  You can't read it while it's in there, but you can access it in a macro. /w gm @{selected|token_name} :: @{selected|bar1} That would print the name of the token (so it might be "Point of Interest" or maybe "Castle Notes"), followed by the text in bar1.  It won't preserve line breaks, but you can probably get by without them. Best benefit is, you only need one character with those macros as token actions and all your notes can be individual but you'll pick up the token actions by having them all represent the single character.  If you save a token to that character as the default with empty bars and representing the character, you can drag it out easily to setup a new marker.

If you decide to upgrade to Pro, I have a MapNotes script I'm working on that pulls information from the GM Notes in json format and outputs it to chat. It's mainly intended for D&D 5e though... and will have options for perception, investigation, and other such checks... so players can run a macro, click the target POI and get back information based on their skill check.
Thanks, guys! I appreciate the quick feedback! I'll try copying the notes into the bar field and see how that works. SkyCaptainXIII, that tool sounds pretty neat, but I probably won't be upgrading to pro any time soon, but if I do, I'll be sure to check it out.
The Aaron said: It won't preserve line breaks, but you can probably get by without them. This is true, because you are no longer in the realm of string constants and have entered the realm of HTML. However, you could easily put a </br> wherever you wanted to start a new line in these values and it would be the same as having pushed SHIFT-ENTER in the chat log.
