Oo a chain story. Heck i I just wrote a story about Kerri Sailing on a ship and fighting with pirates, why not? Kerri stood aboard her father's merchant, standing looking over the bow. She still enjoyed the sea air and open blue sky. It had only been 4 days since the pirates and she still looked solemn. The crew was still putting the ship back together in ship shape after the great fight. Kerri stood at hand rail in her finery. She had on another elaborately embroardered dress, with fine lace but this one was a pinky rose color instead of the blue she had worn. Her hair was done in more of an upsweep, but you couldn't quite tell because of the matching pinky-rose bonnet that sat on her head, covered in fEsther's and ribbons. She wore pale pink amethysts earrings and an amethyst necklace. The amethysts were cut to look like flower petals. And small diamonds encrusted the earrings and necklace like dew drops on a summer's morning. She wore the same 3 rings, two on one hand and one on the other, that she had before because they were gifts from her mother and father on special occasions. The air air wasn't quite as cold as it had been before. She still put her hands into her wolf fur muff. But the hood was down around her shoulders of her heavy black wool cape, trimmed with wolf's fur. Kerry watched as a whale surfaced in the distance. Blew water out the top of his head, drew in breath and slid back beneath the waves. "Captain," shouted another crew member, different from the one who had sounded the cry four days ago. "There appears to be something floating on the water up ahead," he said as he looked through a small spy glass. "Can you make out what it is?" Yelled the captain up to the crows nest. "It looks like some wreckage with a large lump on it.. no it's a person, they just moved thier arm!" "Man over board!" Shouted the captain. " Prepare the life boat, and pull out the long poles to help fish him out of the water." "Trim the sails so we can slow down as we approach him." The ship quickly gained on the wreckage and slow down with in a few hundred yards of him. They lowered the anchor to help slow the boat down. When the ship was at drifting speed, they lowered the life boat into the water to come get him. When they had pulled the dwarf and sailors, back on board. They wrapped the dwarf in some warm wool blankets. "Captain," said Kerri, why doesn't he eat with us in the officer's lounge?" "That's a capital idea." He looked at the dwarf. "We were about to each lunch when we came across you. After the repast, my men will see if they can find you an extra hammock some where." The ship's doctor came and looked at him. "Just some warm broth for a few hours. It looked like hypothermia was starting to set in, and he got frost bit slightly on his fingers. The most important thing is to keep him warm and get him dry clothes." The ship's men brought him to the officer's quarters where the cook placed a silver canteen on the table and began ladeling the soup into fine portialin dishes. The cook gave the dwarf a tin cup filled with warm coffee. He sat in his chair shivering a bit, putting his hands around the mug to warm himself. "Thank you all so much." He said velmently. "I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't come along. It was terrible. My ship was attacked by slavers or something. I barely made it out alive. I don't even know if my ship mates made it. I've been calling my self hoarse the last few hours. But I haven't heard anything. I don't know if they were dead or alive." He said, the last bit in a half-choked sob. Kerri looked at him, "how long ago was it? " "12 hours ago I think?" "We were attacked by pirates ourselves four days ago. We have the pirate captaian and a few of his crew down in the brig. This is a merchant ship bound for (city across the water from Waterdeep). Where were you going? Once we reach the city, maybe we can help you get to where you were going."
