Richard H., Here you go: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/125912/roll20-community-code-of-conduct#post-125912
Thanks Gauss, I guess I must not fully understand piracy? If I take a pic of a map from a PF module, and upload it for personal/public entertainment, and am not making any profits off it, is that still piracy?
Paizo promotes online play, they actually have a lot of the maps ready for VTT play. But you'd need a digital copy I'd say. When in doubt, ask at the Paizo forums.
Specifically, as this comes up with Pathfinder Society play. (Come join us at the Pathfinder Society Online Collective https://groups.google.com/d/forum/ pathfinder - society - online - collective ) Maps must not be publicly posted, but may be uploaded on a protected site for use. Which means a roll20 campaign that you don't share the join link out to all and sundry is good. A large number of the PSOC group uses roll20 with the full knowledge of Mike Brock and the other paizo PFS people.
Strangely enough, my friend had just asked me about this same question over the weekend. I had told him that I was reasonably sure it wasn't a problem if we uploaded our own licensed products to a closed game, glad to get confirmation!
If you've purchased the book don't they usually include a fair use disclaimer? Check the book for that to see if you're in the clear, they will sometimes specify that you can copy certain pages or segments for use in the game but not for resale or redistribution. In that case you won't be breaking the piracy rules.
Additionally, there are many many remade (and often better) community maps for most of the better known adventures. You can use them any way you see fit.
