Lost and Confused.

I'm going to say this right off the bat: I have ZERO experience with any RPG roleplaying tabletop games. I do not know what they are and I do not know how to play them. I have gone through the guidance and short tutorials and it seems simple enough. But from what I can gather, if I want to join a group, I need at least some level of experience. I do not have the money to shell out the tabletops, and I have no other people I know that share the same interest. Any tips on what I can do?

Many groups are willing to bring in new people with no experience. One of the biggest things you can do to learn is to post in the Looking for Group forum and state what type(s) of game(s) you're looking for (Sci Fi, Fantasy, Star Wards, etc), and what time zone you live in and what days/times you're typically available.   There are also some games with no upfront cost or very little up-front cost. For example, some of the D&D and Pathfinder games have an SRD that provides the basic rules of the game with some limited options for characters (by limited I don't mean half-baked, I mean you may not have access to every class or race in the SRD, but can still get a full experience). And Savage Worlds is pretty accessible and easy to get into and the rule book is only $10 (and that's for a print version). The other thing is, be patient. It may take a few tries to get into a game and then a few more tries to get into a game with a group that gels.

I'd suggest you start with the  Looking For Group Tool .  There is a checkbox for "Only find games that welcome new players " which you can use to find games you can join.  Read the listings and find something that sounds interesting to apply to.  Apply to several because it can take a while to find one that is ready to go.  If there is a particular Genre you would enjoy, try finding games of that type and also look for some real play videos on youtube or twitch.   Some games have a free version on their website (5th edition Dungeons and Dragons does) which you can use as a starting guide.
