European Debit Payment Methods?

I would really like to take a monthly subscription on Roll20. However, I've found very little information about how to actually pay. In addition, there's no information about European pricing, which I presume to be at the exchange rate of euro to dollars, but it's a bit strange that no European methods are included in this. I don't have a credit card, because I don't have nor want debts. I'm a fulltime student and I'll not get a credit card even if I wanted to, because I've no reliable income outside of government funds. Therefore, I appear to be barred from subscription, despite having a great desire to support the development of Roll20 and gain complete access to it's features. Can't the website just shut up and take my money? :x

For a credit card that isn't (for internet payments) you might want to check Entropay (or similar services). It's a pre-pay credit card (real or virtual), no worries about debt and no worries about having your credentials stolen, you can only lose what's in the account... (not that I've ever had a problem with any of my cards having credentials stolen after decades of internet use!) -- Pete.

Yup, what Pete says. There are many pre-pay "credit" cards out there that function by you loading them up with money. They were designed with the needs of students such as yourself in mind. When that money is used you can no longer use the card, so there is no question of getting into debt as you can only use money you have already transferred to the card. <a href="http://www.visaeurope.com/en/cardholders/prepaid.a" rel="nofollow">http://www.visaeurope.com/en/cardholders/prepaid.a</a>... As to the exchange rate used to convert the USD charge to your local currency, that will depend on the terms and conditions of the card in question. Typically it will be the FX rate used by the bank that has issued the card, and there may or may not (depending on the card) be a small transaction charge on top of that. In the UK, the top card for foreign currency transactions is the one issued by Halifax (the conversion is at the day's money market rate and there is no transaction charge or loading fee).

I don't want to do that on a monthly basis. I think that you can understand why. :/ It's fiddly as hell!

Fiddly, and I also looked into it, fairly expensive. Cheapest (at least according to the financial advice office downtown) would more than double the monthly cost of a Supporter account, slightly more than add half again for a mentor one. So, yeah, not a good alternative, at least not in every case (for some it might fit just right, can't speak for everyone after all). Personally I'm just happy my bank let me get a secondary account and card without charge. Made things so much simpler :)

Sounds like you have trapped yourself in a logical dilemma, my friend. You don't want to get/use a credit card, but you don't want to use the non-credit based alternatives either. To me it sounds like no big deal to set up an automated monthly payment from your bank account to a pre-paid card, but clearly your mileage varies on that. I hope you manage to figure something out though. More members are good for us all. If you do come across an alternative be sure to share.
